Hello all,

First post here, so be gentle with us! We are seasoned campers and are looking to "upgrade"! to a tin tent. Fed up with damp canvas and stringing it up in the garage!

We only have a 1.4 Seat Leon and we like the look of the Eriba Puck L's, as they are compact, light and the L has a longer bed for the other half!

We are going to take a trip to a place in Poole, Dorset who deal in decent second hand ones, and they all look great!

So my questions are....Does anyone have/know of any alternatives? Are eriba's a good buy? Any pro's/con's you seasoned caravaners can tell us? Anything we should be looking out for when viewing? Infact any wisdom you can impart!!!

Any help greatly appreciated.

In terms of quality the Eriba is superb, its part of the Hymer group so no fears there. There are smaller vans like the Freedom range but they don't measure up in terms of quality. Have you considered a folding caravan? Just check that the weights are OK for the car.

I have to say that although a bit small for us I have often admired the Eriba's build quality and quirky good looks (a bit like myself!)

There use to be a chap on this site who signed himself Eribaron which, I am told was read by mant as Hairy Baron!

If the size suits I would say go for it, you won't get better build quality than an Eriba

regards

Hi Benny24,  Welcome to ukcampsite.  For lots of discussion, hints and tips on Eriba ownership you might want to visit http://uk.msnusers.com/EribaOwnersPhotoBoard/eribaownersphotoboard.msnw if you haven’t done so already.  A couple of members have set up another website to collate all the Eriba information at http://www.eriba-amiga.co.uk .

The Eriba dealer in Poole has a website at http://www.automotiveleisure.co.uk  .  The Eribas all seem good value for money.  In fact one of the members of the Eriba Owners site bought their Eriba from Poole and had it delivered.  You can see his thread at http://uk.msnusers.com/EribaOwnersPhotoBoard/general.msnw?action=get_message&mview=0&ID_Message=7930&LastModified=4675577341921654858

Eriba Owners are planning an EribaFest at the Caravan Club site at Cirecester in September.

Eriba owners can be an oddball group ~ but we like to be different

I don't know much about the Eriba myself, however, I regularly pass a dealers in Lechlade Gloucestershire & judging by the amount they have passing through the place I'd say they must be a good job. If you don't have a dealer near you, pop up to Lechlade & have a look, they're on the Faringdon road out of Lechlade. Lovely spot too.

Thank you for all your hints. Basil brush, thanks, The Lechlade place is the UK offical for Eriba new vans. Bit out of our league on price. We are going to pop up to Dorset next week.

Thanks also to Carr and Hazel for all your attachments and links....x

Lechdale is not the only UK importer of Eribas .... Jandi at West Calder in West Lothian also import them.

Go for it, but first check out
http://www.whattowcar.com/

You'll be more than happy with an Eriba. Mine is the "big-brother"- a Triton, but I get 45mpg when towing with my Skoda Fabia(1.9 Tdi), 35 mpg with my previous Honda Civic petrol.
