Hi i am travelling to scarborough and am staying at the flower of may holiday park. I will be travelling down the A64 to the staxton roundabout where i will then take the 2nd exit left A1039 towards filey. i have just recently been told that the A1039 may be unsuitable for touring caravans because of the tiny villages and narrow roads. Is there anyone out there who can help me please.

                                                                  Thanks tuts

Hi Tuts

You'll be fine on that route.  After you leave Staxton roundabout, you'll travel through Flixton and Folkton, which will be no problem at all.  There's just 1 tight bend going through the next village, Muston, but again, it won't be a problem for you.  40ft HGV trailers thunder through the village every day!  After Muston, you'll turn left onto the A165, which is the main Scarborough - Brid road, and Flower of May is about 3 or 4 miles on.

HTH, safe journey

The A1039 is a bit hilly and twisty-turny but as buses and lorries use it all the time I don't see it being a problem towing a caravan. It does seem a long way round though. Why not take the 1st exit at Staxton and stay on the A64 for a bit and then turn right onto the B1261 for Cayton and Lebberston? That should be much easier going.
