ok up till last year we had always been under canvas in one shape or another, we moved up from tents to trailer tent and then finally fc, so ok the fc was huge, no beds to pack away in the morning extra, but drying was still a big worry even though we could open it on our drive and leave it to hang even if it was only open an hour a day it did eventually dry out. weight wise our first caravan was actually lighter than the fc by 100kgs, so the only real difference was wind drag on the move!!!
however as the months got colder but we still wanted to be out and about the only option was to become tin tenters!!! we got our little ardia to see what we thought, and never stopped using it, we sold it just a couple of weeks ago and ended up making a profit which promtly got "invested" back into our "new" van, this is totally different in size and facillities and should see us through the winter without so much of the "hardship" we had with the adria or fc. only real difference is that now we have to have storage as the van is to big even though for a couple of nights we can have it at our MIL s whereas the fc was ourside the house permantly, but atleast now the neigbours dont get the thing of knowing when we are going for the weekend etc.
