after sorting all the weights we are now ready to buy our new second hand van but so much info which one i'm worried about getting ripped off help were do we start

Have you thought about renting before buying to see what layout suits you best? Also try buying from a dealer so that you have some comeback if you have problems and I would suggest a starter level van then upgrade when your confidence grows.

Other people can't tell you what van/layout will suit you best. It's an extremely subjective thing, and there's no easy way around it.
However, it can be quite enjoyable wandering around the dealers, trying this van and that one, and you'll probably quickly find that some vans/layouts will be an immediate no-no, FOR YOU.
It's basically a process of elimination, eliminating what DOESN'T suit YOU.
