Thanks jennifer

will remember your info. We have found on doing lots of searching that there doesn't seem an awful lot in price difference in private or dealers - unlike cars- and yes I take on board what you say but I wonder how long might it take to find exactly that fairly close right model right price and even older people can cover up, admittedly so can dealers but you do have a come back. I guess what you gain on private sales is often lots of extras which you may have to purchase new otherwise. We bought our camper from a dealer got excellent service but now realise at a cost as his buy back price is £6000 lower a year later !

Must say jenniefernn seems to know her stuff re spec on caravans, would just like to agree that our caravan has the lovely pale wood finish inside (its a bit of a girly observation but i like that kind of thing, nice curtains, cushions and cute lights etc etc ha ha) We have a Sterling Eccles sapphire, 5 berth, and as i say i would recommend one to anyone. We bought ours from a dealer about 3 and half years ago and I would hate to think what they would offer us for it now - but we the had peace of mind at the time I suppose.......whatever you buy i'm sure you'll love it

Thanielle

Well!! Thank you for your support Thanielle!!!   We girls do indeed have opinions! And we agree on the lights, they were one of the deciding factors! Plus the Bedboards and the sprung cushions.

I would just say that after we had made our choice, completely uninfluenced by our dealer, the very helpful and knowledgable  (sp?)  sales guy said we had made a good decision.

Bailey vans are good value for money, but I do think you only get what you pay for.  So as they are cheaper, they must be saving the money somewhere.

We now intend keeping our Emerald another year or two.  Originally we said we would only keep it 5 years, we had a 5 year warranty, but it has been so good we have  decided to hang onto it, plus we really like it!!!

It is a 4 berth with side dinette, but now our daughter is unlikely to be coming away with us any more, or at least not on a regular basis.  We had thought we would go for a smaller 2 berth van, but now we have decided to go for broke and get a fixed bed with end bathroom ( Sterling Elite Searcher possibly).  So if DD did want to come there would still be room for her.

Plus, we now have a little grandson, so in a year or so we hope he will be allowed to come away with us.  REALLY looking forward to the nappies!!!!!!!!!!!!
