Can anyone advise me on where I can get a gas hob glass lid to replace the one that shattered into my spaghetti bolognaise!!
We've had our caravan for a few years now and have always done quite a lot of cooking. I can only assume that on this occasion that the two large pans that I had on the back burners must have been touching the glass lid which caused it to explode. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
I'm not even sure of the make of it as the name was printed on the glass.
we had to get a replacement for our sink/draining board cover. it exploded one night, well early morning really. went with such a bang it scared us to death. daughter was covered in broken glass in her bed.
we were told that if there is any imperfection in the glass at all, then they can explode at any time! anyway we got a new one from a local caravan shop, they had to order it for us but it didn't take long to get here.
We've got an Elddis with glass covers over the hob and sink too and it's got some name or other written on but blowed if I can remember exactly what it as the mo! Dagnamit! Wish the van was outside and not in storage or I'd have a peep for ya!
But....in theory the Explorer group should be able to help you out with finding a replacement.
If you haven't got the phone number for them and don't wanna be bothered with searching the web for it, let me know and I'll get it for ya coz we do at least have all the caravan books etc. at home!
Think that name on the glass is something like Countryside? Nope, don't think that's it, sorry
We have Chinchilla glass in our Compass and it's supposed to be indestructible, right? I personally would not trust it and ensure that any pans are kept away and the lid is open till the hob cools.
Yeahhhhh that's it Ali! Seemed to think it began with a C!
And just like shooie with his Compass, (both his and ours are made by the Explorer group), we never put the lid down until the hob is cold...just incase
Hmm, i was under the impression that this glass made from small furry animals was virtually indestuctable, or thats what all the manufacturers seem to say, seems a bit dodgy to me, has anyone looked into this matter further, ie, is it on vans of around the same age, or certain maunufacturer??
