Hi again

Our internal tv ariel is very poor. Thinking of getting external ariel and pole.

Could anyone recommend a good ariel and where to get it from please.

After a few trials and tribulations with various aerials we settled for this one from Argos. Yes it's expensive but we did try 4 others first, one that was so big that when I assembled it in the van I couldn't get it through the door!! What a numpty.. As the saying goes "you generally get what you pay for".

Others may come in and say they use such and such an aerial but unless they've tested it and compared it against others in a poor reception area as we did I'd be a touch sceptical. As I said we did all our testing in a poor reception area last year and the one in the link came out tops.

Mind you that was the only time I enjoyed watching Eastenders. It was in Dutch!!

Hi We use one of these http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.com/product.asp?p=1884 and found it ok but had trouble getting freeview so I added two more poles to get it higher and now it is perfect and can get all freeview/terrestial channels ok.

Much better picture than the Status omnidirectional already on the van.

B & Q or cheaper at an aerial shop just get a normal high gain house aerial and an aluminium pole or go to a car boot sale as there is always someone selling one.

They are now going over to the newer directional ones and they DO work.

Yes i have noticed that its only the high spec vans at the moment with the status directionals, with some other models it is an option,

If you are spending £50 on an aerial without the pole, maplin do some camping sat kits with the box as well, all you need is a free to view card from sky for £20, no pole needed

Ours worked with a strong signal but the directional one on the Senator works with a weaker one as well.

Sky+ is better still
