I think I am just about convinced, the main worry was whether we would see any benefit compared to the initial outlay
but then I thought about the takeaways we get regular, the amount we spend on sky+, bband, phone, mobiles etc its not really a lot of money for a massive benefit to the family
so watch this space, going to local dealers at weekend just to see which style we prefer, may take some ID for finance if we really like one... or maybe not, i know what the missus is like for spending my hard earned lol
We use to have a Boat on the Solent and the day it went we both cryed. But we went out and brought a caravan and love it and a lot better off (£5,000 just to moore it a year) We have traveled alot more and have just come back from France With the boat we had to take in tides weather and restiction in loactions. Our 4yr old loves the caravan and has made new friends at every site and we can relax without having to say "do not go near to the water" and she does not have to wear life jacket Regrets NONE

We spent 1 week in a self catering cottage in north devon last year at a cost of £460. This year we spent £250 on site fees for 2 weeks. We went to 3 different places, CC at Longleat, CC at Burnham on sea and Park Dean in West Bay Dorset......loved it! No comparison really, even the travelling in between sites was enjoyable!
We have had our caravan since Easter and have been away 8 times so far & wouldn't change it for the world. The children love the freedom and don't miss the tv at all.
Avoid dealer finance like the plague if you can, it is often riddled with ifs buts and maybes and if you want to settle it early you get stung for doing so. Much better bet is using a site like thisismoney.co.uk and/or bartering with your Bank.
We started with a second hand Eldis 2berth and have just got a new Sterling. We like the following: NO time limits for when you eat. Freedom to go when we like. Simply just love the life
Freedom to see different places and sleep in a bed that hasn't been slept in by god knows how many, reasonable site fees (mostly) generally nice people on site, my autistic spectrum son needs familiarity of his "stuff" all around him so a caravan is perfect for that, have a lot of little dogs that love camping so don't have to worry about kennel fees, I can relax on camp where at home I'm always finding stuff that needs doing so its hard to relax, so all in all campin is just the thing for me and mine
