Hi there,

Isabella in our opinion are probably the best you can get, but Dorema are also well respected. For £1000 you will have plenty of choice!

Click Here to view the Isabella website. (they also do porch awnings).

all the best.

Please could someone explain the difference in awnings. I assume it is the quality of the canvas??

Quality of canvas is one of the differences, but there are lots of things that come into effect.  Things like poles and pole stays, the plastics used in window's, design and quality of finish and care in manufacture. As with most 'better' quality items in life you can just tell.

Hi Valerie,

Awnings are pretty much the same design and style wise, but the materials have changed.... modern awnings are no longer cotton canvas, they are more plastic and polyester based, which is much better as they don't rot, are more water resistant, and dry much easier, the poles are now different too, rather than heavy, bulky, metal poles, modern awnings come with carbon fibre poles which are very light-weight yet strong and sturdy and in my opinion due to being lighter are much easier to put up.

all the best.

WE've just bought a Pageant Provence too, we had an isabella for 13 seasons & it was lovely but too small for the new van. However, after looking at isabella prices, I wasn't prepared to pay through the nose just to have passers by read the name on my awning so we picked up a Dorema booklet the same time as ordering the caravan & I rang them to ask a few questions. You know, new make, different things on it & I wanted to be sure.

The man I spoke to was very helpful & I ordered a new Dorema President Deluxe in blue with the Fibre glass frame. With it I ordered two tall annexes with bedrooms, Two extra storm poles, the storm straps to go with the built in storm kit & bag of spare ladder straps. The awning was delivered within 2 days, it fits like a glove & Doremas attention to detail certainly gets my vote. Cost was just over £1300 all in & I'm chuffed with it. IMO it's a lovely awning.

i have caravaned for years and have tried many different makes of awning i now have an isabella system and it is the tops in my eyes quality made good pole design etc ...one of the things i was very impressed with is that it has a rain / draft shirt both in and out ....many other points you need to look at them against others for yourself you can also get windbreaks to match the awning..... there is a budget version of isabella called Ventura these are im told very good aswell

Hi Gerry

i would think you could get a very decent awning for a grand, personaly i have gone away from the full awning and i am using one of the new lightweight suncamp ultima 390 awnings which i find a lot easier to use evn for a weekend trip.

on another note if anybody is looking for an awning in the leicestershire/ derbyshire area i have a bradcott active 930 cm for sale it was new in 2004 easy alloy poles excellent condition all curtains etc but no groundsheet i will take £225 for it (costs new £590) and before any body mentions it i have placed it on the advertising section.

Hi there, I know you are talking canvas but last weekend when we were down at the van two gentlemen sauntered up and asked about our awning.  We have a Sunncamp 260 Ultima.  They had been eyeing it up over the weekend and had full awnings already but were really interested in one of these.  We are delighted with it and it is quite roomy.  You can get a 390 mm one too.  It is sturdy, doesn't fall over in high winds and seems well made.  For £150 it is a bargain.

Ali
