I'm not familiar with the Centaur name but the styling of the van, particularly the rear lights, the cheapie Labcraft light above the fridge and no cassette toilet, makes me think this might be older than the 1992 stated in the description. Does anybody know?
As you may have guessed I'm looking for a 2 berth similar to this one so my Monza 400D will be up for sale once I've found one. I don't want to sell it beforehand because I don't know how much kit will come with the replacement van.
just looking at the styling of the van i would have said that 85-89 would have been a better age range, also when you look at the cabinets etc even for a low range van they would have had a better finnish on them if 92 ish, the fabrics definitely are late 80's though, but hey for that money what does age matter, if you check with the owner to look at the vin plate then this will give the proper age and you can discuss the price accordingly as they have mislead you with there advert!!!

Ask the seller for the Cris number - if it is 1992 or later it should be Cris registered. Unless it was an imported van, but the door is on the left?
I've had two 1991 caravans that didn't have cassette toilets or showers, this does have a shower but I agree the fittings look more 80s, as does the body shape.
Anyway at that price if it's in good nick it doesn't really matter exactly how old it is.
I've never heard of Centaur though.

No a prayer as the firm ceased to be officially 1990 but had no production in that year!! My gut feeling is early 80's but with some significant upgrading having been done.
The water heater and filter housing, Zig' unit, cooker, bathroom and even the cushions to me are all later additions, while the gas locker, rear lights and hob tell it's real age.
But hey it's in lovely nick and obviously looked after
Yes, I was thinking it looked like a mid 1980's van - a similar age to my 1984 Monza. I'll be happy to bid up to £600ish for it but it is all too common for other bidders to get carried away if they think an item is 'better' than it is. A similar quality 1992 van may be worth a grand or more...
It maybe be a 1980's van, with some upgrade as someone has already said; But it looks in very good/clean condition, well looked after. If its going at a right price I'd buy it, thats after viewing of course...
Centaur finished production in around 1990 ... they started in about 1987. A small company, based in Wales in the end. Started by ex Avondale employees. All there 'vans were built in a 12 ft 10 inch body but offered various layouts/berths. The one on the ad is a top of the range Crete (its rear lights have been replaced - where are the fog lights???).
Oh and contrary to the comment above some 'vans still had an external, non-integrated gas locker after 1988 ... the Centaur is one example. Another more popular example is the Swift Rapide which had an separate gas locker up to and including the 1990 model year.

It looks tidy - it has the same carver heater as my caravan - built 1984, although they probably used that model heater for a few years after. Styling looks 80's, at that price though its very good. I bought my 1984 caravan last year for £395!
