Hi guys, just upgraded from a Vango Diablo 900 to an ABI Viceroy Jubilee.  Its a 5 berth and I cant wait to get in it tomorrow and make it peronal.  The owners dropped the price to £3500 to get a cash sale so I think we did really well for an 1995 model - it is immaculate with porch awning and everything inside.

We managed to tow it home OK but that is about it - is there an idiots guide to caravanning anywhere - people keep talking about all sorts or things that we have no idea on.

HELP

Jan

Hi Jan, we did the same, upgrading from a Vango Diablo 600 to a van earlier this year. Having never been van owners before, you do feel alittle "out of it" at first, but what there is to learn is picked up as you go along, and mostly common sense. Have a look at the rallies and meets section on here for your area, they're great fun, and of course.....people are always willing to help out or give advice.

Sounds like you got a great deal with your van, you'll love it, we do!!!

Good luck

Just make sure your car is ok to tow it, weights etc, load all the heavy items as close to the axle and as low as possible and get a good stabiliser the difference they make when towing is tremendous. Oh and don't do what some ignorant caravanners do and go speeding as fast as they think is safe down the motorway as it gives us a bad name and can you could end up with a pile of matchwood instead of your pride and joy or even worse. All that said welcome to the club and enjoy every minute of it.

Hi, my advice is to have it ready to go at all times. Ive got towels ,travel iron & hairdryer, tea towels toiletries cleaning items, sleeping bags (much easier to store than quilts) All pots & pans., underwear wellies & comfy shoes, make-up etc etc. When were going away Ive only to put in the clothes & food ALCOHOL!!! Ha Ha. Also make up a small ESSENTIAL tool kit for any emergencies & a first aid kit!! Happy camping!!
