Hi there I have the bighorn 3.1td trooper and I'm getting about the same! As you say these 4x4's are great for towing etc I guess thats the only let down.. But I say what price can you put on safety with towing?

I love my Shogun for towing but the low MPG is annoying. It isn't even great when solo. It's a SWB 2.5 and it averaged 21.38 mpg over our holiday, 950 miles of which 750 were towing. Maintenance is high too, it's in the garage now having its brakes looked at for the 3rd time this year and I fear yet another set of discs and pads is on the cards.

i think the only way you can get better fuel costs with any 4X4 is too convert it over to LPG.

my old scenic diesel pulled my caravan at around 31 to a gallon but the C Max ) petrol) can only manage 26 towing.

My petrol Jazz used to do 35 mpg towing a very heavy folding camper last year, the Shogun only managed about 22 towing that! Shame the caravan is a bit beyond the Jazz's capabilities or Seamus Shogun would be on his way.

Had 2.6. petrol Shogun 14- 18 towing if lucky 18-20 solo if lucky and no hills.

Also remember when it goes wrong and you ring the garage if cost £60 to say the word Mitsubishi plus the cost of what ever you need to get it going.

Also have had Disco towed at 25 ish and 30 ish solo.

Now got Skoda Octavia 1.9. tdi tows at 35 ish and solo 55 ish we pull a twin axle Lunar Delta.
