I've often wondered about the tow cars you see with the back end almost dragging on the road - now I know, it's the people who put all the heavy stuff in the boot!  Seriously if you do take this approach there is an issue about overloading the rear axle of the car, it will also affect the general handling of the car; and I seem to remember reading something in caravan club book that weight in the boot area should be deducted from the tow car maximum noseweight figure.

Hmmm,  if you were to do that then either you could have nothing in the boot or such a low noseweight that the van would tow very badly.

However it does say that "overloading of the towing vehicle's rear suspension will result in poor towing stability"

When loading the car any heavy things should be placed as far forward as possible.

thanks all. We used to pack between the front and the axel but just packed as it was such a large space. we will pack the usual . then u have the problem of how or what to put in such a big space as a dont want stuff sliding around - mmmm will have to do somemore thinking!!!
