Were going away for the first time this weekend and have packed quilts (4 off) my god they take a lot of room up.... I am guessing most people use Sleeping Bags due to them being more compact? I've been looking around and there appears to be so many for different climates etc... Are there any you can recommend for "normal" all year caravaning?
We use quilts in the van, sleeping bags when tenting.
TBH unless you buy very cheap sleeping bags or very expensive backpacking ones there isn't a lot of difference in the room they take up. In fact the kingsize one I have won't squeeze into a locker as easily as my single quilt does. Neither will it go in my washing machine, whilst the quilt will (just).

We bought our first caravan in May and used our sleeping bags that we used to take in the tent. We found them too hot TBH to use in the caravan and we just use quilts now. we still take the bags though incase the in-laws decide they want to join us for the weekend and my and my son get relegated to the awning.
We take quilts, and they do take some room, but we also have bought the large vacu-bags. Pop the quilts in them and suck the air out of them with a vacuum.
We bought a new quilt when we got the van. We opened the plastic packaging at the top of the 'tube' shape carefully and roll it up and stuff it back in the with the cover still on after we've used it. Then pop it in the wardrobe. Pillows and sheets go in a top locker.
We used a duvet and bottom sheet at the start of our caravanning after previously having a trailer tent, and then found that we needed a under sheet/mattress cover for use under the bottom sheet. About two years ago we read a letter in a camping magazine where someone wrote that they used 2 duvets - one on the bottom and one on the top. We have used this every since. It takes only 1 minute to make up the bed and it is more comfortable - like sleepng on a mattress!!.
sleeping bags £4.98 each at woolworths ideal for summer. we bought 4 and no one was cold. wash in machine and dry in no time. quite warm in caravan anyway when youve got 4 bodies in there.
Weve got some 3-4 season bags, in summer we sleep under them and use like a quilt, then progress to being in it, then use a liner in really cold, but if you have heating on leccy, you can keep the whole van toasty warm!!
I got sleeping bags from argos one king size for him and a double for me and they are fab, I fold them and pop them both in the space below the wardrobe.
There are duvets that basically popper two duvets together so that you can use just one of them to get a lower tog rating for summer. found these to be very useful. Use the second one underneath to give extra comfort,
I went to dunelm and bought these bags, that you put the duvets in, then with my on board vac, I suck the air out of them, this means the duvet goes down to the quarter size, so i can pack it easily away, I also use a duvet on the bottom and one on the top.
