I speak as a Caravan Club member when I say that I think criticism of Chalkie is a bit harsh. If the CC Site is open to non-members then surely he is entitled to expect a reasonable response. After all in these circumstances his money is the same as any members.

I dont understand Vic what you are trying to say. I am in full time employment from 8.30 to 5.00 with 30min lunch. I am unable to contact them until I get home when I get home they will not speak to me until 9.00 the next morning, but I am at work then. The only time I can speak to them is the weekend - when I speak to them at the weekend they are fully booked up the day before. I would like to join the club but on 2 occasions now they have indirectly let me down. Someone mentioned check availability of pitches online but I thought that was for members only. I repeat I am not having a go at the CC but looking for advice on how to overcome this particular problem.

Chalkie, for goodness sake read my posting again and you will see that I am on your side. I am not asking you to justify yourself in any way. As I said previously, if the CC Site is open to non-members then they are entitled to the same courtesy as members.

Cheers!

Vic

this is all getting a bit silly.

Clearly CC are losing business by this sort of tacit approval of poor customer management. But clearly not very much as the site is fully booked, and the problem is actually getting in!

Just take your custom elsewhere mate. I got fed up trying to book at the CC sites, so didnt bother joining. dont forget you lot that peeps can join the club when they arrive at the site. Many might be non members when they arrive, but could be members when they leave.

The spirit of British Leyland is alive and well - just so long as there are enough peeps to put up with it and justify it.

Eventually I booked myself into a well-known site in the locality and having booked it was told by the owners that I had to get there by 6pm on the Friday as they were going out that night and the barrier would be locked!!!!! As I was a three hour drive away and had to pick the kids up from school that was a non starter.

I can only conclude that site owners get it all too easy, and dont need the business.

Isn't that dangerous what if an ambulance needs to get in to someone.  Also what if you went out for night and got back late.  Are you locked in once there?

We went to site in Banubry and they requested to let them know if you were turning up later than 8pm.

Does the person who answered phone not see to people if they turn up at night then, must you turn up by 5pm

Hi

Just thought I would mention, that once booked in you get a swipe card or you are given a number code to enable the barrier to let you in, normally you just press the button to go out..  No caravan parks are locked so that no-one can enter or leave.

You have a problem that you cannot book over the phone because of work commitments.  Surely the solution is to actually join the club then you can book online 24hrs a day.

Never had any problems booking with CC either by phone or on line....what you have to remember is that alot of their sites are very popular because the facilites ect are good so people want to go back....I don't see why the warden could not of dealt with your request maybe the computer system was turned off.....I rang Braithwaite fold only last week and the warden asked me to wait whilst she got the computer up and running.  I would suggest writing to the club with a complaint and let them sort this problem out.  As a member I am sorry you where treated in that way....but don't let it put you off as most wardens I've met have been great.
