Well after spending a couple of weeks in France in our tent and looking enviously at all you happy caravaners, we took the plunge and have bought on eBay a caravan. We're utter caravan virgins and are looking forward to learning as we go along.
Anyway, the van we have bought is an Adria and I have so far not been able to find any info regarding weights or anything else. If anyone has any info that they feel might be useful, please email me at ian at holmestead.co.uk or post links here.
For help with identification and also so you can have a laugh at my expense, the van we have bought is here
Exciting times indeed!

Didn't you do well, bit older than stated but lovely nick and I doubt there are any damp problems to worry about, just check those grab handles are tight and the screws still sealed
Most of these were imported by AdriaGB which is now Anglo European Caravans Jenny there should be able to help with information and some spares for these vans, the handbook such as it was at least contains the weights which are relatively light by UK standards.
Thanks for the link Gary. I'm less than an hour from Ilkeston so maybe it would be an idea to book it in there for a service and pick their brains at the same time.
Just out of interest what would be your best guess as to the actual year?
Mr Ulti-mate, thanks for the vote of confidence!

The firm is in two parts, the servicing half is carried out by Nathan of 'Ilkeston Caravan Centre' 07739 562966, he's mobile as well as currently sharing AE's workshop . You also have another choice in Simon at 'Independent Caravan Services' that covers your area on 07901 820528.
As for the exact age, That big gas locker makes me think it's very late 80's rather than 90 or 91, at least the 'Forma' model had a flatter front by then. Looking at the two though yours is in better nick so I wouldn't worry about it although Jenny should be able to date it from the number stamped on the 'A' frame.
sorry to disagree with Gary but it is the age stated!! going by the decals and interior.
best to check out on the vin plate as this will have the year on it.
only advise i would give is to keep an eye on the front end seals, esp the awning channels. this is the main place that adrias fail, also watch out for the front box, as it only plastic, if the hinges get a bit siezed the plastic cracks but also as the front box sticks a fair way out from the van when towing its easy to catch this with a hard lock on the steering

Quite right too as this shape model I now know ran to 93, also from 88 up to and including 91 the year is the first two numbers of the VIN, and should read xxADxxxxx
im only speaking from experience as we had the smaller version of this van and had no problems with it at all except the bits i mentioned. we used the van right through the winter aswell and never had anything bad to say about it other than ours didnt have a heater in it!!
we had one of those for our starter van,we had so much fun we went and bought a brand new adria and haven't looked back since great van's and never any trouble

Hi Ian
What a great van, we have an Altea 432 and love it. Just one thought if you live around Ilkeston you may want to have a look at Selston caravans, we bought ours from there and they are the uks leading Adria dealer. They have been sellng Adrias for years even importing them themsleves when the old Adria GB went bust. They may have a load of spares left so they could be worth a look.
my adria is late 80's and your one is definatly newer, the decals say early 90's, ours is the optima 500B a 6 berth 17ft internal body clocking the scales at just 1100kg so I think you would need to be towing with a mini before you need to worrie about your weight, but it would be wise to know all the facts you can find about your van, good luck with your new van , have fun .

Very astute, I was talking to Paul at Selston Caravans this afternoon and he's the one who put me right. I see from their website they have won dealer of the year again, personally it does not surprise me at all, I owe Paul and particularly Peter in the workshops a debt of gratitude for their help when I got started
We have an adria ...bought new in may this year also from Selston Caravans..the help they gave us was brilliant...we are very pleased withour van after camping for 4 years.
need any advice or help...then paul usually knows the answers.
