Yes - unless it's a cheap non-inverter generator - then it will charge the battery until you get a voltage spike and it blows up the charger.

sprite3003 made an excellent comment that the club they belonged to had rules when the generator could be used, i believe that some sites have similar rules.

we recently had an evening disturbed on site by somebody using a generator. The person concerned had placed generaator behind the van so they did not disturb their party with the noise, but everyone behind them had the full effects.

another camper complained to the site manager and the generator was quickly silenced.
