I will like a LCD TV that runs off 12 volt as well as 240 volt. Did I read Makro do one? Any details appreciated.

Towsure have a few in  and if you're not bothered about a large screen then they are currently doing an Evesham one for £109, which is also 12 volt. Seems a good deal!

Hi

Have a look at Maplins.co.uk They have an 8" with freeview. I thought 8" was far too small, but after seeing one at the NEC last Saturday I was very surprised. The picture quality was excellent. They were selling for £189 without freeview. maplins sell them for £199, but if you subscribe then you get £15 off.

Small, compact and bejou. Ours should be with us in 2 days, if I remember I will post a review of it after the weekend.

I know someone that uses a tv adaptor with freeview on a laptop ,plugs into usb port and aerial plugs into stick ,  http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/pages/products/data_hvr900.html

They have also got a 12 volt lead for their laptop , you have to look around for  a lead to suit your model of a laptop .

And laptop can double up as a sat nav when travelling with this : http://www.microsoft.com/autoroute

Has a GPS locator to plug into laptop and to go on windscreen of car ,see map of route of journey with voice commands .

And lastly most laptops can play dvd films aswell .

I bought the 10" version earlier in the year when they were less than £200! Flat screen, lightweight, with freeview!

We looked at loads of LCD TV's and read loads of reviews, quite often, as i am sure everyone knows sometimes cheap means:

Poor responce time, Poor refresh rate, Poor contrast ratio (important for LCD TV's if you want great quality not just ok picture quality), Poor brightness, Only one speaker (not stereo or nicam), no teletext facility, few connectivily options, no sleep timer, most with just one SCART connection.

There was a chap selling the Alba ALCD15DVD1 15in LCD TV/DVD Combi at the NEC for £199.00 and 3 customers bought while we were there, they are in Argos the same but quicker and easier returns though.

http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&searchTerms=5291869

We wanted a 15" LVD TV Combo with a good review, good specifications and sub £200 along with PC connectivity, so we went for the ALBA one above from Argos, it has no sleep timer though, for everything else its very good.  Argos now do the Acoustic Solutions one which is cheaper and better, but no PC connectivity, we would have had the Acoustic Solutions one and bought an LCD Monitor for the bedroom PC separately if the Acoustic Solutions one was around when we bought our ALBA.
