We love our mover, could not get the van into the garden without it. Well worth every penny even if it had cost double.

Caravanning cheap, not on your life when you consider devaluation on the van, sites , towing, servicing etc.

BUT on the plus side, guaranteed holidays, fresh air, your own Wendy House,  getting places where the "crowd" doesn't get, weekends away and loads and loads more.

I was unsure if it would affect the caravans warranty? My husband is a mechanic so would be able to fit one we were just a bit wary on the warranty side? Our van is a new one, would it not affect the warranty if we fit it ourself?

The movers are so designed that they clamp onto the chassis and are most unlikely to cause any damage that would require warranty claims.

It is possible for accidental damage due to hitting a rock etc but that would be covered by caravan insurance

agree john,i was thinking more about drilling the floor and wiring problems that can crop up after the fitting.[:o)]

Hi Michael

The wiring is direct to the battery and the control panel can be mounted on the back of the battery box or close to it via a hole drilled in the battery box (sealed of course!)

I run 2 heavy cables from the battery via a fuse to  isolation switches in +ve and -ve .

I then connect the van and mover supply to the terminals on the isolation switches thus avoiding 2 sets of wires connected directly to the battery

I usually drill the floor and then use tubing(such as caravan waste pipe or thinner ) to tightly fit the hole and protect the cable as far as the mover.

Its also very often possible to use floor vents to bring the cable through

If you have it fitted by Powrtouch etc they will have the job taped for the easiest and neatest installation

Hope that helps

My husband who is not a mechanic fitted ours, took about 4 hours and was quiet hard work but your OH may find it easier.  Saved quite a bit of money doing it himself.  It is a Rhyno, only problem was it did not arrive as soon as they had promised which caused us a bit of as problem  and we had to keep chasing them.

Our mover's the best investment we made after the FC, then the caravan.  We had it fitted to the FC then transferred to the caravan.  We had the correct engineer fit it each time and we have called them out when it went faulty.  The warranty is 5 years and since nobody else has touched it other than authorised engineers - there is never a quibble.  The mover has allowed us to take it well off the street and into a situation where it is vital to use the mover to shift it.

Caravanning is not initially cheap, the loss  made on a new van is a gasper!  Just lie the loss incurred on a new car.  on the other hand if as a rule of thumb you lose say £1000 in value for each year up to 5 years old, the number of holidays it gives individuals and whole families ( who really make caravanning worthwhile) make it a very competitive manner of enjoying your leisure time.
