has anyone had any problems with this service. having just sold my caravan the new owners arrived to pick up the van, so i telephoned cris to do a check which i was willing to pay for, only for cris to tell the new owners that this service is not guaranteed.

i felt like a fraud.

I don't quite understand - are you currently registered as the owner with CRIS? Presumably, in that case, you would have registration documents to transfer to the new owners? The 'not guaranteed' statement sounds on the face of it just a standard attempt to limit the liability of the CRIS organisation in the case of subsequent problems (for instance, if the 'van had been stolen along with its documentation and the owners had not notified CRIS of the theft - unlikely, but possible). I don't think you need worry too much: if I were purchasing a secondhand caravan, I would be paying for my own check, not relying on the vendor to do it.

hi, yes im the owner selling the caravan, the purchasers were here to collect the caravan, ive given them the cris documentation, but was giving them peace of mind or so i thought. no guarantee, well what does that say. they are getting paid off  both seller and purchaser, ive not had this problem before and this is caravan no 5. i think its a rip off,

not really i think they are just covering there backs.(this service is not guaranteed).there is i believe a lot of forged  CRIS documents in circulation.with 5000 caravans stolen each year its not easy to warranty all transactions.i can understand how you felt though,at worst it could have cost you the sale.you would have blamed yourself for that too.[:o)]
