Hi wonder if i can hear some words of wisdom. I was thinking of putting our van away for winter storsge ,but a number of you avid campers keep saying winter camping is just as good and i was shocked at how many i have actually seen going away . We are starting to think  like wise only thing is in dont know of any sites in the north east that stay open all year. Please any advice.

Why dont you join the caravan and camping club and go on there rallies. Thats what I do. The rallies I go on are about £4.50 a night. The caravan club may do similar things but not sure as I'm with the caravan and camping club. We enjoy it and it gets you away meeting other like minded people. Beats sitting at home

Hi lou

Like bev and jon this is our first season with new caravan and thought we have to pay for storage so put it on winter seasonal site at brighouse bay instead and went away this weekend for first time and what a great time we had and it was actually to warm in van at times. There are people on the site that travel from newcastle area each weekend but bit far if you ask me.

While away this weekend there was about 20 tents aswell so if they can do it im sure you can in your nice warm van.

I've just looked at the thermometer on our balconyand it's an unbelievable 38 degreesC in the sun. I'm in shorts and T shirt and sweating. I have decided to abandon the outside painting because it's too hot. It is just ridiculous, I don't know whether its global change or natural cyclical stuff, but I have never experienced anything like this. Just wish we had a caravan right now.

If you use the search facility on this site, select the area you want then advance search, you can specify 'open all year'  this will get you a list of sites.

there are 4 under Northumberland,  19 in North Yorkshire, there are also Caravan Club sites including CL's if you are members. you may need to change to propane gas if its really cold.

Sorry, should've bin 28 degrees. As for the Pimms, wot me? It all got evaporated in the sun, 'onist!  Had no heating on the house yet and the temperature right now is still 21 degrees. The rooms that get daylight sun are at 24 degrees. It's crazy, even now the butterflies are fluttering by. Everything is still in flower, ducks on the creek think they should be mating again ( typical men). Birds are collecting nesting materials, its all very odd.  We're not allowed hosespipes down here, 2 nd glorious year, but its OK, you just blow the sand off the car.

I saw blackbirds mating in our garden the other day and that's Bedfordshire, not France.
