I have a suncamp 390 and must say i think it is an excellent awning but one problem i have with it is when it is up and all pegged out it is not that tight against the caravan i was thinking of getting some kind of suckers to stick it to the van but thought i'd ask the experts on here as i am sure you someone will have come across same problem and any suggestions or ideas welcome.

I read in in one of the magazines about a bloke who used "pipe insulation". These come in 2meter lengths with a slit down one complete side so you can slide the end of the awning into the insulation. Stops the fabric beating against the side of the van .Get it at your local plumbers merchants or B&Q. Your idea of the suckers seems quite good as you can get a small gadget which puts metal eyelets into fabric which can help hold the sucker to the awning. Glad someone asked this as this is the one I will be purchasing.

Cheers - Michael

I have one of these and was a bit annoyed by the fabric vibrating against the sides of the van when the wind was in a particular direction.  I got out some of that wide brown parcel tape and stuck it onto the van side - not pretty, but it worked!  Must try something a bit more classy for next year, maybe try the pipe insulation.

Gerry

I have a 390 and i am having problems with mine, i can get the rear end of the awning tight against the van but not the front end, But i think i have worked out why

the awning rail on my van slopes of towards the froont of the van, and i reckon that because the poles are all the same length this tends to push the front end of the awning out of shape, therefore pulling it away from the van and making it hard to peg right up against the van, i think the best way to cure this will be to cut a couple of inches of the front pole and hopefully this will let the awning pull closer to the van.

I would be very inrterested to hear if anybody else has had the same problem or have come up with a way to sort this out.

It's true that the fixed length of the poles in the Ultima awnings means they don't sit as tight to the 'van when the ground is not level, or if the awning rail is not level.  I haven't come up with an answer though, as the ideal length of the poles varies from site to site.  If someone comes up with a way of making the poles adjustable, they'd be on a winner!
