I'm afraid living full time in a metal box, on cold empty caravan sites in winter wouldn't suit me... Much as I love camping and will be semi retired by next summer, We won't be spending all of our time under canvas. I have a feeling that too much of a good thing can leave you jaded. Obviously, I hope it works out for you, but it isn't something I'd choose to do...

Hi,mjcreed, I wish you well on your new life. I hope everthing turns out O.K. for you three. I have discussed the very same idea myself with her indoors but not having much luck this far.The idea of no council tax, no heavy bills thru the letter box...(we wouldn't have a letter box anyway) and new neighbours constantly appeals to me immensely.Go wherever you want, whenever you want...that sounds just  perfect.....Very Best of Luck to you...Floyd.

We have half taken the plunge. We rented our house out for 12 months in July and have been in the van since then. We're currently in Spain having taking three months to get down here.

So far no major problems, and if we still feel the same way at the end of the 12 months we might well follow suit and sell up.

It sounds like a great opportunity to me but I would be wary of selling my house and not having any property in any country.  What happens if your health deteriorates and living in a van is no longer feasible, or you simply get bored with it?  Go travel but surely far better to rent house out until you want to come back then sell up completely as you will find it hard to get back into the UK property market if you do.

We have been doing it since January this year and enjoy every minute of it except when you get a flood warning and have to move like now.

Thanks all for your words of encouragement, its only been a week but it's been great. I can now sleep at night with out worrying about bills etc, have to say this ACE  has the most comfortable bed I have slept in for years. these tin boxes  are now more like luxury apartments, still staying at my work shop at the moment but have booked  The old brick kilns, Barney near Melton Constable for a christmas break, hope to be on site at The Fox, Hevingham, for New Years eve and afew weeks after. I don't think I will be writing any books ( not my forte) . By the way people seem to assume that because we have gone full time that we are retired/semi retired, ! not yet I'am afraid still in early 40's mind you it would be nice , and could come sooner now .

.........Mark
