That I would say is very mis-leading unless perhaps it's taking into account the different pressures the two run at. Butane is actually 31% higher than Propane but to take account of this butane is delivered at a 33% higher pressure. Given that Propane would win a race by a short head, however with both at 30mb Butane is by far the hotter/quicker gas

Anyway what oven is this? I wonder if you have a rusty pipe leading to the jet and that little extra pressure with propane has shoved all the flakes of rust up against the jet and it's that causing your problem.
