Hi,
These are similar questions that I asked at the caravan show in Birmingham and here are the answers that I got.
Adria bought Fleetwood.
The Fleetwood Sonata Symphony is the same caravan as the Adria Adora 612UP.
Fleetwood have added alloy wheels, external BBQ point, external wet locker, and other bits. The material is different, the seat filling may also be a bit better but I don’t know this as a fact.
I think a new Fleetwood is £1000ish more.
So there you go, not quite sure if one is ‘better’ than the other as you get more with Fleetwood but have to pay more for it. So I guess they are the same but slightly different if you see what I mean.
Yes they are made in the same factory.
Yes the front seats are not that long, but the fixed double bed is quite long.
The possible alternative could be the Bailey Ranger 620/6
This is practically the same lay out inside (I was told Bailey copied Adria, but that might be sales talk – even if it is true, so what they are both cracking layouts). The seats are longer but the double bed is shorter. It is also twin axle. The weights are similar but the payload is bigger on the Fleetwood/Adria.
The overhead locker stay openers on the Fleetwood/Adria seem very flimsy.
The table in the Fleetwood/Adria can not be store flat in a cupboard, so it will always be up and could get in the way. (I will be changing the table for one that can be folded flat – I will loose the ability to make the seats into beds, but I will not use them as beds)
Yes the awning rail on Adria/Fleetwoods is screwed from top down on the top of ‘van as opposed to into side of caravan. This makes the rail stronger as your awning is not ‘pulling out’ the screws but more pulling them sideways if you see what I mean.
It is a selling point that they will tell you and a good topic of conversation on those long dark winter nights, but not sure it is the most important reason to buy.
For me the layout of both is the bees’ knees. You put the kids to bed in bunk beds and stay up in the lounge. Then when you are ready, you go to bed in a fixed bed – no making your bed every night – great
I will be buying a 2nd hand Fleetwood in about 12 months. The bed is bigger (I am quite tall), it has more to offer than the Adria. The Bailey bed is too small and it is twin axle (they tend to get nicked more often). This is only my opinion.
