For anyone considering a PDQ, best do a search for threads, lots to be said and varying opinions, personally we took ours back after one weekend because the zips broke within a couple of hours of wear and tear (real pain in the neck being the wrong way around, with little people), but apparently their new stock have the zips the "normal" way around. Also a lot of people had trouble with tearing in exactly the same place.

They're a good idea though, maybe we'll look into it again when they've been around a bit longer. In the meantime I'm looking to get a Sunncamp Ultima but am a bit concerned whether it'll fully cover my front near-side window.

We too have a caravanstore and have never had a problem.

I have used it on a tarmac pitch, held down with nothing more than a couple of gazebo weights although usually it is pegged down through the feet and has a storm strap on it. I also always use the extra tension rafter.

(In fact I've got it up now in a car park in Austria!!)

Last season, my caravanstore was put up when I arrived on site in March, pegged and strapped down and stayed up until mid October with absolutely no problems.

As for travelling with the caravanstore in place, mine is now 6 years old and has only been removed from the awning rail once (when we changed vans!!)

During this time, it has travelled close on 25,000 miles on our various European excursions, with no problems at all.

Best of all, they are vinyl and aluminium so you can pack them wet and  have no worries about rot or corrosion.

A tip for anyone using caravanstore is not to put it up level. ie make sure one side is higher than the other. This way, any rain doesn't accumulate on the canopy but runs off.

we have a full awning and use it every time we go away as our rottweiler and two jack russells live in it! we use it as a dining room and a place to store the cushions off the sofas at night,we put our wellies out there, hubbies beer stays cooler out there,a dozen uses that a porch awning wouldn't fill. It takes hubby about 40 minutes to put it up on his own while I get water and set up inside so I think it is well worth putting it up even for a weekend.

We have a full awning which we use when away for a week or longer, but we use a porch for weekends. We have recently changed our porch for a slightly bigger one (but not a half awning size) as I prefer to cook in the porch as well as using it for the wellies boots and coats.

If you are interested, we are selling our other porch which was only used about 6 times last year and is in very good condition. If you are interested, post a reply and I will send all the details.

Thanks for that cher

I have a westie to consider as well as my daughter and if it takes only 40 mins to set up it may be worth going for the full awning as i have seen a isabella capri lux for a good price. Interested to know which awning you have and if you would reccommend it ??
