Any good?

Short and sweet I know-couldn't think of anyway of filling it out.

i love my awning but not the quick lock poles .
very good to put up nut in any wind they release themselves and colapse. we have had some of the poles changed by the dealer but it has made no difference. its now three years old.
we have decided that if we have the same problem this year we shall change the poles.( buy new normal poles. )

We had a Bradcott Active and it was fine, alloy poles were easy to use and ours didn't slip, one did jam though but luckily the annexe poles were the same so we were still able to put up the main awning.

We've had 3 now - the portico small porch about 12 years ago, the Classic and a new Portico Plus.

We sold the original porch with the Avondale when we gave up caravanning.  When we went back to caravans we bought the Classic when we got the Lunar, but as it was like being in a ballroom for the two of us, we sold it when we changed the caravan and bought the Bradcot Porch.  Unfortunately, it has never hung right on this new van, with the door being at the front - it's not the awning's fault - the design of the van makes is either block a window or the door or both.  So we've now put it up for sale, and have just bought another Bradcot (the Sport, which isnt quite as big as the Classic) on Ebay. So this one makes it our 4th.  We just love 'em

We had a Bradcott with our last caravan, we paid £90 extra for the easy alloy poles which were very easy to put up , however ours collapsed once during heavy winds and dented the brand new caravan, I would recommend the awning, but not the alloy poles, that said they do have their good points OH could put the awning  up without any help when we had them.

I would agree with everything that has been said about the 'alloy poles'. Ours bent in strong winds too and because it was still under guarentee Bradcot replaced them with more alloy poles. This was last summer and we haven't had the inclination to put it up again yet - I would be very worried in any sort of strong wind though.

We were going to stick with steel poles-we put the awning up together anyway and we had a look at the wieghts, there is only bout 10kg difference anyway, and at £110,thats a lot of £'s per kg.

We'll just have to buy beer near the site instead of loading the fridge to keep the wieght down lol (or pack less spare clothes)

Hi

We have a Bradcot Classic (960) with easy alloy poles which is 3 years old.  We did quite a lot of looking and talking before we bought it.  Wehave been very pleased with it.  No problems other than as below.

No problems until last Summer in at La Riva Camping Nr Lake Como, Italy.   High winds were forecast so we started to take down the awning.  Unfortunately winds arrived just as we had unpegged the awning and were taking it down.  Only wife and I we couldn't hold it down.  Flipped completely up onto caravan roof - looked like a dead cow with poles sticking vertically in the air!!  With the help of some British neighbours we managed to get the awning down again.  3 main front poles bent at 90 degree angles.  Fortunately no damage to awning fabric or 'van roof.  Probably been worse if we had had steel poles.  Funny in retrospect but not at the time.  We had to manage the rest of the hols awningless.

Sections of poles can't be replaced had to buy 3 new poles via local dealer.  Cost £100 - not worth claiming on insurance as would have lost no-claims.  Bradcot recommended a mail-order company for the poles more expensive and plus postage compared to local dealer.

Annoying now changing van so will have to change awning - annonying as only used 3 or 4 times.  Local dealer is only offering £150 part-ex on new classic so will probably try to sell privately.

Anyone want to buy a 3 year old  Bradcot Classic blue awning.

Best wishes

Tim

We have a Bradcot Classic 960 and are very happy with it size wise....We were thinking about changing from Steel to the easy system alloy but after reading the comments here, think we might leave it !!!  Had a disaster last trip out, trying to put it up with a slight breeze, ended up denting the van and not to mention my wife & my son's poor head !!!......
