Hi
We have a Bradcot Classic (960) with easy alloy poles which is 3 years old. We did quite a lot of looking and talking before we bought it. Wehave been very pleased with it. No problems other than as below.
No problems until last Summer in at La Riva Camping Nr Lake Como, Italy. High winds were forecast so we started to take down the awning. Unfortunately winds arrived just as we had unpegged the awning and were taking it down. Only wife and I we couldn't hold it down. Flipped completely up onto caravan roof - looked like a dead cow with poles sticking vertically in the air!! With the help of some British neighbours we managed to get the awning down again. 3 main front poles bent at 90 degree angles. Fortunately no damage to awning fabric or 'van roof. Probably been worse if we had had steel poles. Funny in retrospect but not at the time. We had to manage the rest of the hols awningless.
Sections of poles can't be replaced had to buy 3 new poles via local dealer. Cost £100 - not worth claiming on insurance as would have lost no-claims. Bradcot recommended a mail-order company for the poles more expensive and plus postage compared to local dealer.
Annoying now changing van so will have to change awning - annonying as only used 3 or 4 times. Local dealer is only offering £150 part-ex on new classic so will probably try to sell privately.
Anyone want to buy a 3 year old Bradcot Classic blue awning.
Best wishes
Tim
