We seem to have trouble with the jockey wheel.... we've only been out twice 1st time pulled caravan out of drive to avoid our electric gates closing faster than we could hook up & forgot about the wheel & rode straight over the gates stopper!!! even thought it sticks out the ground about 5inch square The wheel buckled!!
The second outing ... we got to the site unhooked & forgot to lock the wheel in place & caravan tipped up, lucky we were first there.

I should get the muppet award. While hitching up under pressure at home, I forgot to check the green button had popped up on the coupling. We swept majestically out of our street under the admiring gaze of a neighbour, there was a bang from the back and when I checked in the mirror, the 'van was gone!!
we backed up to find it forlornly resting on the tarmac. We wrestled back onto the car, double checked the grenn button, and slunk into a layby to check for damage. Nothing serious, apart from my pride. Now my OH checks for the button...when she remembers...
got our van out of storeige drove about half way home and heard a nasty grinding noise so pulled over to check what it was and found i had'nt tightend the jocky clamp up enough result one melted jocky and one briused ego funny now but not at the time
One things springs to mind. We are driving along with caravan on the back, someone passes us, beeps, looks like they are sticking their two fingers up to us, angry harry next to me (Im driving) is nearly out the passenger side window sticking his fingers up to the car , now in front of us. Gets home NO SKYLIGHT!!! will never jump to conclusions again. LOL
Many years ago our whole family used to travel to Scotland from Doncaster in a convoy of at least 4 caravans. I used to drive my parents small car loaded with his inflatable boat, fishing gear, spare nephews etc. One year we couldnt make it on the planned day, so my sister drove the car up, and we followed on a couple of days later. We'd got the van loaded, hitched on the car, and just done all the lights checks. Hubby drove off with a cheery wave...."meet you on the A66 services".......leaving me in the middle of the storage site on a farm, miles from civilisation and in days before mobile phones. Apparently they sat at the services for well over an hour, until my youngest - aged about 6 years at the time, asked how long would it take mummy to walk this far?
