Just a quick update - if anyone's interested!
Finally managed to speak to someone - very polite - asked lots of questions then said that their underwriter insisted on their being a barrier in front of our caravan for them to be able to quote. I reiterated that the 'van will be spending its summer on a seasonal pitch and that I didn't think the park owners would allow us to concrete a hitch post into the grass, nor did I think they would install a gate just for our benefit! No business for Caravan Guard!
I could see the sense if it was a particularly new, highly specced, highly sought after and desirable 'van, but it's a six year old Elddis Avante - bottom of their range! OK, I know that means it would be easier for an opportunist thief to move on than something worth £30K but we've fitted a wheel lock, a hitch lock and it came with a (rudimentary) alarm that we'll be upgrading.
We got it covered with the company that insures the dealers we bought from - no hassle and no weird terms and conditions.
------------- Best Wishes and Happy Travels,
