The worrying thing is having a government and local authorities blind enough to take these bigots seriously.
Bertie.
Well said. But unfortunately everyone is desparate to be seen as PC so the majority of people go along with whatever issue they happen to get wound up about next...
Personally I think they should ban flat caps pressed against windscreens (or should that be the people under them)

If they manage to get all 4x4s of the road, what will happen to the 100,000's of people that work in those businesses? They will go on the dole.
Where will the government get the money they lose from 4x4s taxes, fuel, etc.
I suppose it would be unthinkable that all other cars would have the taxes put up on them, and fuel would once again go up.
Don't forget that motorhomes could be next, or Jaguars, or even mondeos.

I, myself along with others may agree that " a heavy goods vehicle or public transport vehicle " produces more pollutant per mile than ANY 4x4 on the road so why dont these "do gooders" give the HGV or PSV people such a hard time. After all dont these vehicles have LARGER engines thus producing MORE pollutant.
Let me think now....psv's carry lots of people therefore in theory reducing the numbers of vehicles on the road....and hgv's bring us all the things we need to live our life...so we need them, on the other hand, all the suburban mums running around in their X5's and range rovers picking junior up from school when a micra would do the same job...we dont need!!
I can understand someone pulling a HUGE caravan might require the power and weight of these things or for that matter a working farmer or someone living in the wilds of Scotland or Wales, but someone in kent who tows a 14' 2 berth to cornwall for two weeks every july has no need for one.
what rubbish - why cant more freight go by rail. also on th esubject of 4*4 vehicles and the so called chelsea tractors - i believe they should ban all mums taxis and all kids should walk or take a bus to school to school - unless they live in a rural area.
i have a freelander td4 - its more economical than a lot of petrol cars on the road.

The shops still have to get the food from the rail station, which would surely cause more congestion around the railway station.
