I know i'm a little late as you've bought but his may help others.

I bought an LCD telly as i thought it would draw less from the battery.

I noted the following after purchase.

1. Viewing angle was not good from below (important if you have a fixed bed type van as you are looking up at it)

2. Although it works on 12V it has to be 12V (not 11.5 or 11.8). The voltage drop from battery to 12V socket was enough to stop it working even with a fully charged battery. It started with no sound and soon lost picture as well. I eventually bought a volt stabiliser to compensate and tho' this works it adds to the current consumption lessening the appeal of the LCD telly.(the old CRT one worked down to 10.5V).

Obviously the weight is much less which is good but bearing the above in mind it may be wise to spend a little more and get one that will work below 12V and that has at least a wide degree of adjustment up and down.

Hope this is helpful

We have just bought the 15" LCD from Asda for £129. We were quite impressed by the picture and the sound quality.
