Word is the guy who owns Sports Direct/Field and Trek has been it talks about buying but has been sitting back and waiting for things to get worse for Blacks and snap the company up for bargain basement price.
Have to say delivery with Sports Direct or Field and Trek is amazing, I purchased a tent on 30th Dec at 7.00pm and it arrived 12.40 lunch time next day and I live in East of Scotland and tent was dispatched from Sheffield, I have bought from them several times and delivery is always amazing...its a pity about an old established company like Blacks folding but they have been sitting back watching other companies move forward, especially with outdoor activites on the increase for a few years now especially camping...poor management in my opinion.

It is a fool who has to say something.
Looks like they're hoping to sell off all the assets within the next 3-4 days. Keeping a close eye on this fire sale as it develops but I would imagine there will be a huge impact on both Blacks and Millets stores.
Well the way I see is,we can't all shout about some bargain camping stuff that we've managed tp get from the likes of Tescos or online or from the Poundshops of this world one minute and then be surprised when the proper high street shops suffer...
I think its a tragedy that Blacks have gone after all these years. I remember back in the 60's when I was a scout, the best bits of kit came from Blacks. I have very fond memories of my Good Companion tent and my Icelandic sleeping bag

I bought off Blacks online last week and items delivered quickly. Yesterday I went to our local store which is due to close on the 22nd. I came out £70 worse off but must have had £400 worth of clothing. NorthFace, Berghaus, Animal etc at a fraction of the RRP. Even got 2 O'Neill mens hoodies for 50p each as they couldnt find the barcode!!

Parents bought a fleece in Millets in Truro unfortunately it was too small, went to take it back last Saturday and the shop was shut - no explanation on the door - all the kit still in the shop, in the time we were stood there 4 other people came up wanting to shop in there.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
if sports direct do get it then I think it would be a case of forget about buying specialist gear from here As a runner my experience is that all they sell is non specialist gear.
