A DISTRAUGHT mum fought back tears last night as she begged her teenage son to come home. Robert Marshall, 17, vanished more than a week ago on a family camping trip in Bethesda. Speaking for the first time his mum Paula Jacobs said: "It's been a nightmare."
Former Ysgol John Bright pupil Robert (below right), of Pleasant Street, Craig y Don, Llandudno, was last seen by 12-year-old brother Matthew at around 10.30pm on June 1. He was walking towards the exit of the Ogwen Bank Caravan Park and Country Club where he was staying with his family. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=3077
Robert's sudden disappearance sparked a huge search by police, the force helicopter, divers, dogs and Ogwen Valley mountain rescue team who combed the area for clues to his whereabouts.
Last night Miss Jacobs, 34, said: "We just want him to come home.
"We love him and we miss him. It just does not feel right that he is not here.
"I last saw him when we were leaving the club house. I got back to the caravan and fell asleep and that was it. I have no idea whatsoever where he may have gone. He told his brother that he had left because he wanted to get onto the inter-net to contact a girl he had just met. He had lost his phone and couldn't text her, so he told his brother he was coming home. We didn't have an argument or anything like that."
Detectives soon discounted the possibility he may have met his internet friend who lives in Northampton.
