Description
Pitches: 18
Opening Dates next year: 01/04/2025 to 31/10/2025
Caravaners ourselves, we hope our caravan site is one we would like to stay on ourselves. Opened in August 2005 we soon added Electric Hook ups and recently shower and toilets. Five hard standings are available outside the gates with temporary hard standing just inside. Grass pitches are spaced out over 4acres giving plenty of space for club rallies in separate paddocks
We have recently started renting out our glamping yurt. With a king size bed and Egyptian cotton sheets we hope to give a taste of luxury to camping.
New shower block and toilets with a separate washing up area were completed the summer of 2021 in the lockdown.
At the end of an unmade drive, set within the Equestrian Centre, horses graze the surrounding fields. We are surrounded by a network of footpaths suitable for dog walking.
The site is situated to the east of a Church yard with no church. St Marys was demolished early 1950s as it was considered unsafe. An open-air service is held here every year at the beginning of July. The site of the church can still be seen amongst the gravestones Shopland Hall records go back to the twelfth century. With the current Hall being built in 1970 on the site of the demolished Tudor Hall
We are close to Southend on Sea with its shops, beaches and mile long pier. The village of Rochford is 5 mins away for a slower pace of shopping around the market square. Market day is Tuesday. Chinese and Indian restaurants with take away in Rochford are recommended. Only a 15 minute walk across the golf course next door there is the club house with bar and restaurant open to the public.
Nearby Attractions
Southend Pier is over one mile long you can walk it or ride the train. Fishing permits available. Southend Seafront with Adventure Island offers fairground rides and popcorn! Go east to Thorpe Bay for quieter beaches where a walk on the mud flats is enjoyable. Take heed of the tides as the water returns fairly swiftly. West to Westcliff-on-Sea for good beaches and the Arches cafes, Palmeira Parade, where from an 8ft by 6ft kitchen food is cooked for roadside tables.
Priory Park and museum are worth a visit, with a walled garden.
Old Leigh on Sea is the place for lovers of seafood. Eat it fresh from the sea, in the open with a drink from one of the pubs on the cobble streets of Old Leigh. Wallasea RSPB Nature Reserve is not far away and near to Paglesham and Canewdon villages with pubs serving good food.
