At Walnut Cottage Caravan Park, a peaceful family-run site 10 minutes drive from the small town of Much Wenlock in Shropshire, finding the dream getaway doesnt have to be a tough nut to crack.
We have plenty of pitches available for camping with the same great facilities we offer for caravans including a double shower block, chemical toilet disposal point and electric hook-ups. With stunning views across Wenlock edge your sure to have a magical and memorable visit.
Inside our new facilities are the following:
Mens and womens separate toilet and showers - with hair dryer and shaving points
Laundry area with washer and tumble dryer
Indoor washing up area with dishwasher and sink for washing up
Fully disabled toilet and shower facilities
Baby changing table and mat
On approach to the site there are electric gates with a coded entry ensuring our site is secure for your children and dogs.
For the little legs struggling to keep up, a play park back on site will buy moods - let the kids burn off some energy on the swings, climbing frame and trampoline (or in the toddlers' area if they're still mini).
Feeling peckish? Fire up the barbecue and pile it high with supplies from the convenience store in Much Wenlock, then tuck in by the campfire. Friendly dogs are welcome on site, so dont forget to toss Rex a bone - just make sure hes leashed first.
Nine miles from Wenlock Edge and the meadows and woodlands of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Walnut Cottage is a paradise for ramblers and adventurers. Heaps of walking routes, cycling routes and riding trails - many of which are part of the Shropshire Way circular - crisscross the area, so pull on those walking boots, don your bike helmet or climb into the saddle and explore.
Nearby Attractions
This part of Shropshire is brimming over with history. Start with an exploration of the ruins and reconstructions at the Wroxeter Roman city, Viriconium, 15 minutes drive from Walnut Cottage Caravan Park, then jump forward a thousand years or so for something more recent: at the birthplace of the industrial revolution in Ironbridge Gorge, 20 minutes away, wander through Blists Hill Victorian Town, learn about the history of iron in the Coalbrookdale Museum and cross the first cast-iron bridge in the world.
There are plenty of stately homes and (formerly) impregnable fortresses nearby: the 13th-century Stokesay Castle is 30 minutes from Walnut Cottage, and the spectacular Attingham Park, Wilderhope Manor and Benthall Hall are all within 20 minutes of the site.
