Description
Pitches: 80
Opening Dates next year: 01/04/2025 to 31/10/2025
Welcome to Acton Field Campsite set on the Isle of Purbeck.
A camping site in rural surroundings with wonderful views of Swanage Bay, the Purbeck Hills and the Isle of Wight.
Set in three hectares of gently sloping pasture there is always a flat pitch to be found please note we do not allocate pitches we leave campers to chose their own pitch but do not pitch too close to others. We believe in the more simple style of family camping where you can choose your own pitch anywhere on our open plan grass areas.
The site is in an Area of Outstanding Beauty, a one mile walk through grass and wild flowers to the coastal path on this picturesque part of the Jurassic Coastline with Dancing Ledge and Chapmans Pool nearby.
A mobile grocery van visits the site providing fresh bread, newspapers and other essential items. New this season a coffee and breakfast bar.
Please note we cannot allow wood or open fires BBq and charcoal are fine.
If you like to walk to the pub for food and drink then we have The Kings Arms only about half a mile away in Langton Matravers. Otherwise there is the now world famous Square and Compass in Worth Matravers about a two mile walk from the campsite.
The campsite offers basic clean facilities - toilets, showers, washing-up sinks, two freezers for ice packs, a fridge and chemical disposal unit. Bring 20ps for showers but we also keep a good stock too!!
There is an electric point in the ladies and a shaver socket in the gents and constant hot water.
Phone charging booths and some electric hook up points are available, these have to be reserved.
Nearby Attractions
Acton Field Campsite is ideal for camping, walking and cycling with many footpaths and bridle paths close by. It's also ideally placed if you're looking for Swanage festival camping.
The beaches of Swanage and Studland are sandy and safe and are within easy reach.
A bus stop is 5 minutes walk from the campsite and a regular bus service can transport you to Swanage, Wareham, Poole, Bournemouth, Weymouth and beyond. Wareham train station is on the main line to London, Waterloo.
Essential day trips include the scenic cliff-top walk from the village to swim at the Dancing Ledge tidal rock pool and caves. In 40 minutes you can walk along Priests Way down to Swanage Bay for a fish-and-chip beach supper, or to the famous Square and Compass pub in Worth Matravers. Buy a pint of cider and a pasty through a hole in the wall before relaxing on the pub's very own little slope
