Dog-friendly AA 5-star campsite in the Heart of the Peak District National Park, an easy drive from Buxton, Bakewell and the Chatsworth Estate. Exclusively for adults. Welcomes tents, touring caravans, motorhomes/campervans and glampers. A member of Tranquil Parks, Longnor Wood operates a quiet site policy, with no noise after 11pm and is not suitable for large groups. Open Beg Feb - Beg Jan.
In an idyllic rural location encircled by open countryside and mature woodland Longnor Wood, guests stay within the heart of nature on this lovely little site, with birdsong punctuating the peaceful setting and other wildlife such as rabbits and squirrels. A lack of artificial light means Longnor is a great campsite for Peak District stargazing.
The 4-acre dog walk and exercise field is perfect for 2 and 4-legged activity, with great views, gorgeous sunsets and stunning dark skies. There is also a beautiful wildflower meadow. The adjacent Longnor Wood can also be explored. If your dog gets muddy there is a bespoke hot and cold water dog wash to clean them in.
A car is recommended to enjoy Longnor Wood meaning that you can explore the Peak District at its best. Whilst the pretty village of Longnor, with its cobbled square with pub and shop, is less than 2 miles away there are a greater choice of amenities in Buxton and Bakewell, a 20-minute drive, as well as an excellent choice of real ale pubs serving great food within a 15-minute drive. Cycle or hike the off-road tracks such as the Tissington Trail, Manifold Trail or Monsal Trail, explore the Derbyshire dales and Peak caverns. Stately homes like the Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall are also close by. Then return to the luxury, peace and tranquillity of Longnor.
The 5-star amenity block has free hot water showers with no push buttons, private cubicles, chemical disposal and a laundry with washer/dryer. Large under-cover dishwashing area and campers kitchen with 24-7 vending machines, microwave, freezer, kettle, toaster and information room. Small, licensed shop selling real ales and local produce. Free high-speed WiFi and EV charging point. Games room, gym and sauna available for exclusive hire. Pizzas and breakfast rolls served weekends.
Hard-standing tent and touring pitches, all with electric, and some serviced for grey water. Small number of seasonal pitches available. Fire pits and BBQs for hire. Up to two well-behaved dogs welcome free of charge on all tent and touring pitches.
En-suite glamping pods with private decking. Shower room, double bed and small kitchenette. Dog friendly glamping pod available.
The site also has a small number of luxury hot tub lodges and caravan holiday homes with hot tubs and private decking, these are situated in a peaceful corner of the site, away from the main touring area. Exclusively for adults these lodges and caravans have been configured to provide spacious and luxurious accommodation for adult only couples. Member of Tranquil Parks. Longnor Wood can be reached within 2 hours from the major cities of Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham and Birmingham and is therefore perfect for short breaks in the Peak District.

There are some great days out including Chatsworth House, the breathtaking Dovedale, the picturesque Tissington Trail. The Blue John Mines, many caves and Haddon Hall. Of course there is Buxton itself with its fabulous park and spring swimming baths. There are markets in Buxton on Saturdays and Tuesdays, Bakewell on Mondays and Ashbourne on Thursdays and Saturdays.

From South West:
Head for Leek and take the A53 towards Buxton. Approximately 2½ miles after Blackshaw Moor, just past Ramshaw Rocks` and the Roaches`, take the right hand turn immediately after the Winking Man` pub, signposted Longnor 4½ miles`. Approximately 3½ miles after turning, take the right turn at brown caravan park sign 850 yards`. Immediately turn right again and follow to the park.
