Swattesfield Campsite is a unique picturesque site to stay at and a true Top 10 UK campsite as featured in The Guardian and Cool Camping guide etc.
Tent and Campervan pitches:
We don`t pack out our campsite so people have space to pitch and move around and play. We have no set pitches so within reason you can camp where you would like but in mind of the `fire safety guidelines. All vehicles must remain in the main camping field and no vehicles are allowed in the woodland or glade area.
Facilities:
Our proudest offering is the communal kitchen and shelter area with free electric plug sockets for charging phones, 4 gas stoves with free gas, and some pots and pans available for anyone to use. The children particularly like it in here making use of the Table Football, Duplo, skittles and Chalk Board wall!
Communal washing up area and our Toilet and Shower block consists of 3 toilets and 2 showers in the men`s and women`s sections, with plug sockets and USB ports for charging phones etc. and free hairdryers.

Our campsite shop contains many of the camping essentials that you may have forgotten or didn`t know you needed; such as pegs/lighters/wood/Kindling/charcoal etc.
Now we have our very own alcohol licence and sell an array of alcoholic supplies should you run low, forgotten or unable to fit it in!
You can access miles of countryside walks straight from our campsite, with the Thornham Walks on our doorstep, pay area and cafe only 20 mins walk away and the 2 local pubs between 30 and 50 mins walk away. You can also hire our bikes onsite should you prefer a countryside cycle or bring your own to explore the area.
Pixie Huts:
Our octagonal Pixie Huts have four peak-a-boo windows, a comfy full-sized double bed and two smaller beds fold out mattresses for small children. They both have a wood burning stove, electric plug sockets and a lamp, cupboard and draws unit and side tables. The units are south facing with a beautiful view of the campsite and Suffolk landscape! The huts have their own outside decking area, fancy fire pit, Picnic table, 2 chairs and a fixed Shelter to shade yourself or keep dry and cooking unit with Kitchen box.
Furnished Boutique Bell Tents:
We have 5 Furnished bell tents, 2 in the woodland area and 3 in our main camping field, all with a comfy full-sized double bed and two smaller beds fold out mattresses for small children and a adult sized fold out camp bed. They all have a side units beside the bed, battery pack for charging your phones and a USB re-chargeable light. The bell tents are all on raised decking and come with their own fancy fire pit and picnic table. The Bell tents in the woods have their own fixed Shelter to shade yourself or keep dry and all have a Kitchen box including a gas stove and supply of gas. At tents are five metres across these are big enough for up to a family of five.
Suffolk Hay Cart:
This consists of 2 comfy full-sized double mattresses. It has a wood burning stove, electric plug sockets and a lamp and a fold out table. The Hay Cart is south facing with a beautiful view of the campsite and Suffolk landscape! It also has a fixed Shelter on the side to shade yourself or keep yourself dry whilst cooking on the cooking unit with Kitchen box, plus fancy fire pit, Picnic table, and 2 chairs.
Nearby Attractions
We offer a unique site that directly accesses Thornham Walks within Thornham Estate, which is an ancient parkland, woodland and farm, and provides 12 miles of waymarked footpaths.
Also to be found is the Victorian Walled Garden.
Accessible from the walks is the Forge Cafe, open daily to offer home cooked specials, breakfast, lunches, afternoon cakes and other delicious treats, while you`re here the children can access the play area within view from the Cafe.
The Four Horseshoes pub which serves meals all day as well as real ales. A beautiful back garden and front outdoor area for popping by for a drink, snack or meal. Sunday Roasts available but if attending during the school holidays and weekends we do recommend booking in advance to save disappointment. Alternatively a 6 min walk from the 4 Horseshoes you can try the delightful White Horse public house!
The Thornham Fishery is within walking distance should you wish to go!
Where are we: Swattesfield Campsite is located off the A140 and only eight miles from the market town of Diss and its mainline Station. Trains depart regularly from London Liverpool Street, a 1½ hour train ride.
We can even arrange for you to be collected using a local taxi or by prior arrangement with ourselves!
