Unique, small, quiet, friendly, non-smoking, ADULT ONLY attractive garden site, set in rolling countryside. Greendale is 1/2m outside the village of Whissendine. Rutland Water is about 6 miles away and Oakham, Melton Mowbray, Stamford, Nottingham & Peterborough are all accessible from a bus stop just over 1/2 mile away. Leicester is also a 40 min drive with Richard 111 & the National Space Museum of particular interest.

Ideal for relaxing! There are walking & cycling routes from the site, as well as around Rutland Water, bird watching, eating out, besides visiting so many places in & near to Rutland. A conservation award site with cottage garden plants, wild flowers & over 80 species of birds identified.

How unusual to find such a quality site that is small, friendly & attractive. A welcome pack greets you on arrival with details of local pubs, markets, 'eat local' info, Oakham, conservation, places to visit etc The campsite is a short walk from the village with a welcoming, dog friendly pub and a well stocked village shop. There is also a village cafe serving all day breakfasts and delicious cakes.
Whissendine Windmill is renowned for its organic stoneground flour. 1 mile in the other direction is a farm shop specialising in rare breed meat.
A heated toilet / shower block, hard standings for the caravans / motorhomes and Wi-Fi add to the stay. A little shop is provided plus a fridge for campers use, coffee / tea facilities, picnic tables around the site, extensive tourist information and library all help make the stay enjoyable.

Well behaved dogs are extremely welcome [max 2] but Greendale is not suitable for dogs that are yappy, aggressive or off leads.

Nearby Attractions

Rutland Water -watersports, walking, cycling, fly fishing, climbing, Rutland Belle cruise, nature reserves & birdwatching centres famous for the summer breeding Ospreys. Coarse fishing lakes far side of the village. Gardens, including Geoff Hamilton's Barnsdale. Beautiful & interesting towns of Oakham, Stamford, Uppingham. Melton Mowbray for its markets, pork pies & Stilton cheese.
Historic buildings, museums, castles & stately homes. Sports and much more!
Shops - quality small shops in Oakham, Stamford and Uppingham and markets in all three plus fantastic markets in Melton Mowbray. Just over 1/2m away is a bus stop that will take you to the market towns above plus Nottingham and Peterborough. 40mins drive away is Leicester with Richard 111 and the National Space Centre to name but two.

There is just so much to do!
