If you are looking for a small-scale, child free, low-impact, secluded place to camp, our riverside meadow campsite may provide it. It`s only a ten-minute walk from the Georgian market town of Brecon, yet the only buildings visible are our farmhouse and watermill.
We have enjoyed looking after campers here at our home for over twenty years, where we`ve tried to get the right balance between what to provide for a special stay, and what to omit if we feel it would disfigure the natural, unspoilt character of the place.
Our set-up will not appeal to all campers: we no longer take children under 13 years, there are only two hot showers (50p for 5 mins), there are no set pitches or clubhouse and WE DON`T TAKE GROUPS.
The grass in the meadow is cut short but not manicured, we don`t have electric hook-ups, and we expect everyone to embrace separating waste items into our recycling bins - a chore not everyone wants to undertake when in holiday mood, but necessary nonetheless!
On top of all this we ask for quiet after 10.30pm and the parking of cars on allocated standing to avoid turning the grass muddy. Phew... that`s a lot to take in!
As campers ourselves we feel the essential ingredients for optimum enjoyment of the outdoors have to include a campfire, by a river, in untouched countryside, where everyone has room to spread out.
This is what we have at Priory Mill. You`re welcome to have a Campfire or a BBQ, but using only our supplied firewood and/or charcoal please. Feel free to bring your own fire-tray if you have one, or borrow ours if not. Sorry but we don`t allow disposable BBQs on site… We can supply charcoal and firewood
There is a freezer for your ice-packs, for cyclists and backpackers there`s a stack of log seats and a covered bike lock area. If you`ve finished with your paperback you can exchange it at our book swap
Although we don`t have hook-up, we do have a free charging area for phones, ipads, battery chargers etc.
We also now have hot water for washing dishes!
Campervans - we only take four small campervans at a time (VW sort of size so 5 metres max) and we have a specific area for them at the far end of the track (please note that both this area and the garden field are closer to the road than the tent meadows) …. booking is necessary
We`re passionate about sustaining this simple, low-impact way of camping and welcome all who feel the same.

Please note when demand is very high we sometimes introduce a 2 night minimum charge over summer weekends and a 3 night minimum over Bank Holiday weekends... but email to check.

Nearby Attractions
Priory Mill Farm is a ten minute walk away from the Georgian Town of Brecon.
The Town is full of lovely cafes, shops and restaurants. It also has it`s very own independant cinema and a Theatre overlooking the canal.
The local Sports Hall provides an indoor swimming pool, bowling alley, squash courts etc... for those rainy days!
The list of outdoor activities and local attractions is so long that a visit to the town`s Tourist Information Centre is a must. There you will find information about the numerous outdoor activities, walks,cycle routes, pony trekking etc...(there is information about outdoor activities on our website)
