Lydford Caravan & Camping Park lies on the west side of the Dartmoor National Park and enjoys fabulous views over the moor. It is the perfect site to enjoy early or late season caravanning and camping.
The town of Lydford has a Norman Castle. Find out how the Tinners Parliament imprisoned tin miners.
Lydford Gorge is the deepest gorge in south west England, stretching a mile and a half from the Devils Cauldron whirlpool to the 100ft White Lady Waterfall.
The Granite Way is a mostly traffic-free, 11-mile cycle and walk way from Okehampton to Lydford - part of the National Cycle Network.
Dartmoor National Park has a beautiful moorland landscape with wooded valleys and wind-swept Tors. Families can try letterboxing - a form of orienteering.
Tavistock is known as the nicest town in Devon and hosts a daily Pannier Market selling local food, plants and collectors items.
The towns and cities of Plymouth, Barnstaple and Exeter are accessible by car or bus.
Lydford Caravan & Camping Park is a private site affiliated to the Caravan Club. We welcome caravans, motorhomes, folding campers (max shipping length 8.5m) and tents.
We offer hard standing or grass pitches with electric hook up plus a separate area for tents offering wonderful panoramic views of Dartmoor.
There are also toilet and shower facilities with dedicated dishwashing, laundry, and a disabled toilet/shower wet room.
Our small on site shop stocks a range of branded groceries, local ice creams and a small selection of camping items. We are licensed to sell beers, wines and spirits for consumption off the premises.
Nearby Attractions
The Finch Foundry Museum shows how trades developed to support local industry. It is home to the mill leat and launder.
Dartmoor Railway runs trains through the beautiful countryside of Devon and Dartmoor. It has a visitor centre at Meldon Viaduct.
Sir Francis Drakes home of Buckland Abbey is one of several National Trust properties in the area.
The spectacular National Trust Lydford Gorge is a 3.5 mile (5km) circular walk in the deepest gorge within the south of England. The Castle Inn pub. The Granite Way (Route 27, part of Devon coast to coast).
11 miles to Okehampton and 10 miles to Tavistock. There is a 2 hourly bus service to Tavistock in the south and Okehampton in the north and beyond, which stops just 100m from the site entrance.
Lydford Castle, a 9th- century former prison and the ancient St Petrocs Church are well worth a visit.
