Description

Pitches: 9 Bell Tents

Opening Dates next year: 03/04/2025 to 13/10/2025

Wild Boar Wood Campsite is part of Pegs and Pitches Camping, two beautiful woodland campsites in Sussex. The campsite offers unique, off-grid "wild glamping" in fully-equipped, pre-erected bell tents. Campers can expect all the benefits of wild, woodland camping with open fires, birdsong, butterflies and den building but enjoy the comfort of a bell tent at the end of the day (if you prefer to pitch your own tent please look at our Beech Estate Campsite).

The site's nine bell tents are set within a five-acre bluebell wood in the heart of Sussex and part of the High Weald, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Tents are set in among the trees giving solitude and privacy from the outside world although its location in West Sussex, near Haywards Heath and the Ashdown Forest, means it is within easy reach of London and Brighton. Wild Boar Wood Campsite offers an opportunity to camp side by side with nature, whilst enjoying the comfort of our tents, with beds, cooking equipment, open fire bbq grill and a firewood allocation. The two ‘faraway tents offer a more secluded option, tucked away from the main campsite, for couples and families wanting their own space.

We have a permanent warden onsite to assist our campers at all times. The campsite is ideal for families and groups, to reconnect and renew friendships, or chat with fellow campers around the campfire. Full campsite bookings are also available for that special celebration.

Wild Boar Wood and its surrounding 40-acre field teems with wildlife; birds, butterflies, deer, rabbit, hedgehogs and foxes make their homes in the field, hedgerows and woodland. Close by the woodland campsite, the River Ouse meanders through the countryside, offering delightful and scenic walks along its banks to the welcoming local pubs.

The peace and tranquility of the site and surrounding area are interrupted only by the historic and spectacular Bluebell Railway locomotives as they occasionally steam past the edge of the woodland campsite! We operate a small scale quiet, relaxed and laid back campsite. We dont allow amplified music and have a low noise policy from 10pm in the evenings.

Nearby Attractions

Many of our campers spend their time relaxing, exploring the wood, observing the wildlife, building dens and enjoying their campfire. There are lots of great country walks nearby.

The campsite is located in the High Weald - a designated Area of Natural Beauty, just ten minutes from the Ashdown Forest. The stunning Sussex South Downs are also nearby. Three great local Pubs are all within a mile or two of the campsite. Brighton and Hove are 30 minutes away and Lewes is a 20-minute drive away.
The following attractions are all with easy reach by car; Bluebell Railway (10 mins), Ashdown Forest (10 mins), Sheffield Park and Garden (10 mins), High Weald Dairy (1 min), Borde Hill Garden (5 mins). Wakehurst Place is also a great place to visit. Lindfield Golf Club is a few minutes down the road.
