In the heart of the Dovedale Valley, surrounded by Dove Crag, Hart Crag and Fairfield and with Brotherswater nearby, Sykeside is an inspiring location for camping, offering stunning views wherever you pitch.
The site has been carefully laid out to blend with the breathtaking surroundings and provides a wide variety of locations for camping across the Park. Our aim is to keep Sykeside a very natural place and we pride ourselves on its true 'outdoor' feel.
Sykeside has all the facilities associated with a modern campsite. The shower and toilet facilities are well located and are regularly cleaned to ensure a high standard is maintained. Shaving sockets and power points are available in the facility.
Our well stocked shop caters for the majority of campers basic needs with groceries, camping equipment and supplies, maps and guides, etc.
The facilities of the Brotherswater Inn, within the site grounds on the A592, complement those of the Park and are available to our customers.
Please note, due to our rural location we do not have any mobile phone reception, TV satellite signal or broadband. There is a Wi-Fi hot spot at The Brotherswater Inn which costs £1.00 for an hour's use.
Nearby Attractions
Our location in the centre of the Lake District makes us an ideal place for those who want to explore both the north and south Lakes.
The nearly villages of Patterdale (3 miles) and Glenridding (4 miles) are situated on the southern shore of Ullswater. Ullswater Steamers run from Glenridding Pier and there are many sailing activities to participate in.
Over the Kirkstone Pass are the larger towns Ambleside (6 miles) and Windermere (9 miles). There are a wealth of attractions such as the cinema, Beatrix Potter World, many bars, cafes and restaurants and plenty of hiking shops.
