Open all year and situated in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Bordering the edge of the woodland our quiet, open all year including holidays, adult only and pet friendly 10 pitch site is in the ideal location for a relaxing holiday.
With beautiful views of the local area it is a perfect base for those looking for a relaxing time and for the more adventurous wishing to tour the Forest, Wye Valley and local attractions.
Direct access into the forest and woodlands with lots of both short and longer distance walks and cycle tracks available.
We are an adult only site, no one under 18yrs.
We do take dogs as long as they are controlled on site and exercised off site.
The site is open all year round, it is a 10 pitch site, all with hard standing and electric hook up.
A Freesat box can be hired for £1 a night. FREE WiFi.
NEW in 2024 Toilets / shower and washing up area.
Many bird tables on site which attract many varied birds, with other wildlife around, due to being next to the woods.
There are many places to picnic, pubs and cafe`s (dog friendly) to eat out plus many places to visit. Also local events to take part in.
Try Puzzlewood where they filmed Merlin, Star wars and Huntsman, plus more There`s Clearwell Caves, Castles at Clearwell, St Braivels, Goodrich and Chepstow.
A lovely drive through the Wye Valley will take you to Tintern, to the Old Station or Tintern Abbey.
A ride on the Steam trains can be taken from Norchard or a trip to Mallards Pike and Go Ape for the energetic.
This is not far from Soudley Ponds and The Dean Heritage Museum. For those who like a nice walk there is the Sculpture Trail at Speech House.
There`s a local leisure centre which has an indoor swimming pool plus and outdoor pool at Bathurst, golf clubs and fishing in several places locally.
We are ideally situated to visit Monmouth, Ross-on-Wye, Chepstow and the Wye Valley.
There are 2 good local pubs within walking distance where food and drink are available. One is dog friendly.

RSPB Nags Head bird sanctuary and endless walking and biking within the beautiful Forest of Dean.

Full details on how to reach Hawthorne Cottage from many directions are on the website and the confirmation booking email which is sent you on booking a pitch.
However. From Coleford take the B4228 (Chepstow) for 1½ miles. At the signpost for Sling, turn left and follow the road for 1 mile through the village of Sling, straight across the cross roads towards Clements End. Once in the village of Clements End turn right at the red telephone box and bus shelter follow this lane for 200 yards to site.
Please STOP at the `STOP HERE` Sign. Stay on the tarmac. Please do not pull onto the grass or another pitch.
