Turn off the A127 at the Bell Public House onto the Rochford Road signed to the Airport. Travel north past the Airport and a `McDonalds`. On reaching the Anne Boleyn Public House turn right onto Sutton Road. Take the second turning on the left into Shopland Road, which is situated on a sharp right-hand bend. Shopland Hall is on the right hand side of the road approx 1½ miles from this junction after one right-hand bend and two long left-hand bends. The site is on the left hand side of the long unmade drive leading to the Equestrian Centre.
Nearby Attractions
Southend Pier is over one mile long you can walk it or ride the train. Fishing permits available. Southend Seafront with Adventure Island offers fairground rides and popcorn! Go east to Thorpe Bay for quieter beaches where a walk on the mud flats is enjoyable. Take heed of the tides as the water returns fairly swiftly. West to Westcliff-on-Sea for good beaches and the Arches cafes, Palmeira Parade, where from an 8ft by 6ft kitchen food is cooked for roadside tables.
Priory Park and museum are worth a visit, with a walled garden.
Old Leigh on Sea is the place for lovers of seafood. Eat it fresh from the sea, in the open with a drink from one of the pubs on the cobble streets of Old Leigh. Wallasea RSPB Nature Reserve is not far away and near to Paglesham and Canewdon villages with pubs serving good food.
