This has become my “go to” site because it has all the things I need at a very reasonable price: lovely views over Romney Marsh, peace and quiet, friendly owners and good walks.
It was my third visit this season and I don’t know how many over the years.
Historic Rye is really handy, less than 5 miles away. Other possibilities include Camber, Dungeness, Dymchurch, Old Romney, Port Lympne and Hythe.
There are nice walks from the site to the popular Ferry Inn, the much photographed Fairfield Church or along the Royal Military Canal.
There’s no hookup or shower but, for basic camping, Mackley Farm is hard to beat.

Could not ask for a better site if you only want basic toilet and water, brill for a bit of wild camping,
The views from tent are fantastic, and close to all the south coast for day trips out.
Kate was lovely and will help out campers if she can.
Loved my week there and will be visiting again next summer.

Perfect 'old school' camping in a field on a working farm.
A hut provides toilet and sink, there is a standpipe for water.
That's it and that's all you need!
Great view from the field across Romney Marsh to the North Downs.
Very friendly proprietors.

Lovely site off a main road far enough away to not have any road noise.
Really nice overview from the hill.
Close to a pub and town.
The owner was helpful.
There's a good loo on site as well.

Great little campsite with a fantastic view.
Very friendly hosts and great price, we paid £15 for 2 adults and a dog for 1 night.
Facilities are great for the type of campsite that I would class as nearly wildcamping, full working toilet with sink.
Drinking water available and if you are coming in a campervan there is waste disposal.
The only little niggle I have is that if you’re camping in a tent, the pitches, although flat are on a slope, which can make it a little hard sleeping.
But all in all a wonderful little campsite and definitely value for money.

Great place, would recommend to anyone.
You must get up for the sunrise it is spectacular.
Road in is fine for a 7. 25M motorhome as long as you take it gently

Small, rural, south-facing site with lovely views over Romney Marsh.
The surrounding area is pretty and the nearest pub - the Ferry Inn - well worth the few minutes journey by car. Booking is recommended if you want a meal on a summer evening.
The nearest village store is about 3 miles but the historic town of Rye (5 miles) has a wide range of interesting shops.
Other places to visit include Camber Sands, Dungeness, Port Lympne, Hythe and Folkestone.
Mackley Farm is a no-frills site. However, that’s just what plenty of us want and the price reflects it. The amenities were clean and owner Kate was helpful but unobtrusive.
We were blessed with fantastic weather and really enjoyed our stay. Will definitely return.

Very peaceful. Lovely views across Romney Marsh.
The toilet is in a shed, basic but clean.
The really nice thing about this site are the lovely owners.
The sheep can be a bit noisy but it's a farm.
Would definitely stay here again.
