We have just got home from visiting this campsite.
We had a lovely time.
Staff are nice and friendly views are stunning.
This is out 3rd visit and it won’t be our last.
Facilities are decent.
My kids loved staying on the site seeing the horses, donkeys and sheep.
Park is really good for kids there’s a little soft play area which is decent.
Crazy golf and the go karts my boys loved.

This was our return following a great holiday on the site in 2019. Our girls loved getting out and exploring the farm and we felt happy and safe to let them just go off by themselves.
The site staff and owner are really friendly. Some of the facilities could do with modernising but whats there works.
Our girls have asked to go back in 2022 with our new folding camper so that makes it a win for us.
Oh and the cafe food is lovely

A wonderful, family friendly campsite. Lively during the day for the kids and quiet at night.
Run by a friendly family who can always lend a hand or nip over for a chat. Always something for the kids to do.
Very well priced.
Couldn't recommend highly enough

Easy to find & access to farm very accessible. Owners cannot do enough, very friendly & check on the campsite regularly. Info sheet given on arrival with contact numbers & other usual stuff.
It's a basic campsite, one smaller field has EHU other larger field for non HU. Having said this the electricity is of low amp I'd say about 10. So would trip off continually.
Will definitely visit again, prob non hook up.
There is an old shower block, (needs TLC), didn't use as there was only 1 shower/ toilet so used own. Elsan disposal worse I've seen😞, weather was hot, flush wasn't working, say no more & wall around was broken.
Having said all this, it is a basic no frills camping area, what you see is what you get. Look at the whole picture, open field for the children to run around, farm easily accessed from the camp site, where the children played for hours. Trampolene/ go carts/wooden play park/ sand barn with toys/ swingball.
A really good adventure trail about ½ mile, children loved this. There's a ball pit & toddler toys off the cafe area, so all in all great fun for all ages.
So you get all this without the main attraction of the Shire Horse centre itself. Every hour there was an activity to see & participate. Plenty of rides on a horse & cart & a quad bike with trailer. Once camping paid unlimited entry to the farm. Some days the farm is closed, check online, there is a calendar of closed days.
We didn't leave the site at all! But plenty of towns & beaches near by to visit.
We didn't eat in their cafe, but it seemed popular, was open until about 8pm.
We loved the whole experience, came away with many interesting facts about their animals I. E their horses are part of the Royal cavalry in London used as drum horses in famous parades, their Lamas ward away foxes & their donkeys are just hysterical!

A wonderful site with electric hook-up, showers and a great place for the kids to play. The proprietor cannot do enough for you and goes out of his way to make sure you enjoy your experience at the farm. The kids enjoyed going to the farm on their own and the grown ups enjoyed the peace! Showers basic but warm with endless hot water. Ideally situated for the wonderful sandy beaches and vibrant town of Cardigan. Beaches shallow and very safe. Would definitely go again, loved every minute of it.

We camped here for 4 nights with our two children (aged 2y & 4y). We were looking for a quiet campsite with good play facilities, and WOW what a find.
The owners were incredibly welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to help us. We were allowed to pitch wherever we wanted and chose a sheltered corner of the field. Electric hook-up is available. The outdoor play facilities (treehouse / slide / swings / assault course / trampolines / crazy golf / pedal go-carts) were in two of the adjacent fields, and animals (donkeys / horses / llamas / pigs / sheep / chickens) in other surrounding fields. The children loved the animals and were allowed to bottle feed the calves. It was very safe to let them explore. There was also a sand barn & barn with skittles/table football/'milk a cow'. The campsite is situated at the foot of the Preseli hills and on a good day the views are absolutely stunning.
On the days the farm was open (Tuesday and Thursday of our visit/every day in high season) the children could also use the indoor play facilities (bouncy castle/ball pit/brio train track/puzzles). We also went on the tractor ride, saw a horse being harnessed and learnt about the history of the farm. The farm cafe serves food all day when the farm is open, including fry-ups.
The toilet/sink/shower room is basic but clean - lovely powerful free hot shower (& a shower mat!) located in main farm building - not far from camping field. There are washing up facilities and I could freeze my ice packs on the days the farm was open.
P. S. The local garage is also a huge general stores (grocer / camping / hard-wear / outdoor clothing) - we only discovered this on our way home!
In our opinion, for a no frills campsite, you've got to go some way to beat this.

Just spent two nights at Dyfed Shires with our two children (9) and (4)and were welcomed by the friendly staff and owners from the moment we arrived. Camping field was clean and tidy with facilities as advertised, the Preseli Hills were a stunning backdrop to our view with horses, llamas, sheep and pigs in various secure paddocks around the farm.
Lovely access to the farm with loads for the children to do when it was open to the public and during the evenings! (bonus) Toilets and shower were good with no queuing (four families on site. ) Cardigan was only 10 minutes away. Will definitely be returning later this summer to enjoy this wonderful setting and hospitality.

Our friends and us had a one night stop over while touring around Wales and found this to be the perfect place to sit back and take in the surroundings or venture around the nature trail. We were made to feel very welcome by all, and a wonderful cooked breakfast to see us on our way was just the ticket.
If you visit with children they would have a dream stay, if like us you are adults only you would still enjoy the experience of Dyfed Shire Horse Farm.

We visited this farm last week and made use of the farm and camping facilities for a few nights. Must say, from the minute I walked into the reception area I felt a welcoming feel from the staff and also the surroundings.
We have 3 children (13, 3 & 1) who love the outdoors so this place was a ideal choice really. All three of them loved the farm whilst we stayed. It's rare these days that you visit a place and feel that your children are safe.
This is a farm that has tried to stay as traditional as possible yet stay interesting and appealing to the paying customer. I think the price of entry to the farm is very reasonable. It is even better value if you camp as entry to the farm is included in the pitch price. Camping facilities are ideal with shower, water, waste facilities etc. Our children even got offered hot water bottles at night. Can't think of any other campsites that have done that in the past. Lovely touch!
Great location for visiting surrounding towns like Cardigan and New Quay (dolphin spotting)
Thank you for a great stay. We will definitely make the trek to Wales again for this place.

We stayed at the shire horse farm for 3 nights in august and wish we'd been able to stay longer. The owners are a lovely family, really helpful and friendly. The camping field is well situated for the toilet and shower and peaceful. Campers are allowed access to the farm during its opening hours and this provided endless entertainment for our children (and us too, especially the visiting birds of prey). Would definitely recommend this site and will visit again.
