 Very relaxed, friendly helpful owners,
2 huge quiet natural fields with lots of space even when fully booked,
Great shower and toilet facilities,
Beautiful location.
Best site we’ve been on, in fact we had booked another site for the second part of our holiday but left it to come back here!

I really enjoyed staying here for 2 nights! Very basic, as others have said, but clean, friendly and in a brilliant location!
We spent both days at Riverdart Country Park, right next door - and I can recommend that also, as a very enjoyable day out.
Ashburton is a pretty little town with a few pleasant, independent shops, and Buckfast Abbey is nearby also, along with glorious countryside all around.
As my daughter is pregnant and not feeling like camping, I rented the little Shepherd’s hut for her - and, oh it was simply lovely! Clean, cosy and very comfortable - well worth £45 a night for 2 people.
I certainly will book here again, so refreshing to pay only £8 per adult and £4 for a child!
A wonderfully friendly and welcoming site.

Summer hill farm is an "old school" back to basics campsite, but with the addition of washing machines and free to use fridges. The site slopes gently, which clearly was helpful for draining the rain away. The open aspect gives great views, but there are hedges to pitch by as windbreaks.
The location is great, next to 2 lovely villages and on the edge of the moors, but don't be tempted to walk to the pubs, as you will be taking your life in your hands; the lanes are extremely narrow with high hedges and nowhere to escape as the 4x4s roar by.
Not a site for the "Caravan Club" types, as this extremely affordable site attracts a real mixture of travelling & camping people, with a variety of colourful units. Plenty of kids, dogs, music. Which I why I would strongly recommend this site to any sociable, happy camper.
Despite camping during the West Country's worst storms, (my tent was trying to be a kite) I loved it and will definitely return.

This is a no frills basic site on the edge of Dartmoor. The campsite has two large fields both with some sloping but enough flat areas for the number of campers present when we visited during the bank holiday period. We found pitching our tent really easy in the soft ground and we had enough shelter to protect us from the wind, having chosen to pitch up next to a hedgerow.
The toilet facilities are basic but perfectly adequate with toilet roll and soap topped up daily. In the ladies there were 3 loos and 2 showers but queuing was never an issue, I only had to queue once for the shower and that was for no more than 5 minutes.
Two washing up sinks are also provided along with chemical disposal and drinking water. There is also a small collection of tourist information brochures and a number of clearly labelled recycling bins. We only saw the campsite staff on arrival, they were polite and efficient.
The site is in a very picturesque area and it's location is close to Dartmoor and within driving distance of the coast between Plymouth and Exeter. Some of the roads near the site are very narrow and bendy however there were many caravans on the site and drivers on the whole were patient and polite in stopping to allow people passed. Ashburton is a small but pleasant town with some nice pubs and a few shops.

This was our first visit to Summerhill Farm. We were pleasantly surprised on arrival at the stunning views and the amount of space. We were on one of the ehu pitches with plenty of room.
The only slight negative was the length of the grass, but that was a minor concern. We never had to wait for the loo's or showers, and although they were pretty basic, they were always very clean.
The farm is set on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, and less than 30 mins drive to Teignmouth, Torquay & Brixham. We would certainly stay here again.

We were recommended this site and it was all that it was said to be.
The site is huge the owner friendly and the facilities clean with free showers and hot water to wash your pots and pans.
We were a group of 6 Tents and although we complied with the rules others did not.
The site owner must get to grip with the anti social users as they made a mess and a noise.

This is without doubt a lovely and picturesque site. The facilities are small but clean and tidy. All the above comments are correct. I would have no problem recommending this site and would visit again.
However I can't give a 9/10 but for one thing. If a site has rules then surely they must be implemented or they are worthless. When we visited there were no less than six dogs running about with out leads. Although returning to their apologetic owners when called it is a breech of the site rules. Some of the stand pipes had to be turned off because a small group of children kept playing with them and leaving them running. I was told that in the dog cases the campers had been told but they took no notice and would be leaving soon anyway. The children had been told repeatedly but they and their parents just hurled abuse. So why were these people not ejected from the site? The printed sheet of rules given on arrival is quite clear but is worthless if not implemented. Get it sorted Summerhill Farm

We visited for a week, which also included August Bank Holiday weekend. Loads of space available - it was surprisingly quiet on the campsite.
The shower block was basic but very clean - we never had to wait for a free shower, even though there are only 2 available per gender.
Staff are friendly and helpful. They have a freezer available to re-freeze ice blocks and charge £1 to charge your phone/tablet (if you supply the charger).
Great value at £5 per person per night.
Some farm noise (animals and machinery) but nothing that worried us, under canvas.
Ashburton town is walkable (very nice). Buckfast Abbey is cycleable, as well as Buckfastleigh (can recommend their Chinese take-away!). Plenty of walking to be had in Dartmoor, so don't forget your walking boots!

We chose this site as a base to explore the Devonshire coast whilst also being close to Dartmoor and Buckfast Abbey it is well situated and easy to reach surrounding areas but don't rely too much on your sat nav!
The site is large and generally level with a very clean shower, toilet and washing up area block. Ample black wheelie bins but the owner seemed to be having a constant daily battle fishing out recycling.
General farm noises as this is a working farm it has to be expected but to us that just added to the countryside camping feel of getting back to nature.
A lovely site.

This is an excellent little campsite.
The campsite is set in a field of a working farm and is very quiet except for the mooing of the cows and the occasional tractor.
The owner seemed very laid back, but someone always seems to be around if you need anything. They sell sausages which unfortunately we did not get a chance to try.
The field is very comfortable for camping - the grass is very thick and although it rained on and off, there was no mud to contend with.
The facilities are satisfactory. I would not say that they are luxury, but they are incredibly clean and comfortable and the water is steaming hot! There is a covered area for washing dishes and a freshwater tap with a hose extension which makes filling water drums very easy.
Ashburton is the nearest village and it hosts a camping shop which is very convenient. It was Easter so almost everything was closed, but there seemed to be a big enough variety of shops. As the previous reviewer said, the site is very well located for Dartmoor.
We were cycling though and I wouldn't recommend heading into the moor from there by bike as it is all uphill!
Nearby is the English Heritage site of Berry Pomeroy Castle which is worth a visit.
The site is excellent value (£5 pppn). For that sort of price you usually get a portable loo, not a quality ablutions block.
I would recommend this site.
