We have stayed for 3 nights at Hill Farm Packington in our tent. Electric hook up is available and drinking water to fill up water carriers too. The toilet, washing up and shower facilities were always warm (very good when you have to run a child over in the night lol).

We came away with our 5 year old and his almost 5 year old best buddy, and we have all had a great time. There are several camping fields here, all with trees and bushes as boundaries which are good as a wind break and privacy, with the park right behind you, accessed through the camping fields. The boys loved this, playing knights and pirates on the climbing frame and going down the slides. They played in it for ages bless them.

As you walk down the road you can see the farms live stock, alpacas, deer and bison. As you continue there is a walk through a gate round a woodland too. This was great adventure. We also picked blackberries on our walk to eat later. The boys (and us) also really enjoyed getting to know the cows and sheep in the barn, they are so friendly and come up to say hello.

In the cafe/farm shop you can get lunch or just a coffee and cake. I definitely recommend the Victoria sponge cake made my Janice the owner. You can buy meat from their own cattle in the shop too, but if you can’t take any home and still want to try the meat you can. They make burgers etc using their own meat, we all had bison burgers and really enjoyed them.

Ashby is only a couple of miles away if you need shops etc, and the site is in easy reach of some national trust and national Forrest areas too, so there is plenty to do if you fancy a day out and about. We enjoyed exploring the land around us for the most part and only went out for a few hours to Hicks Lodge.

Very nice place for walking and bird watching, but pricy parking!

Janice, Andrew and their little helper were fabulous hosts. We honestly couldn’t have asked for much more.

We had such a lovely time. We’ve since found out that they also hold activities around the year, from Forrest walks and BBQ’s to breakfast with Santa. So will be keeping our eyes out for another visit.

Great site with a few small sheltered fields all with water and electrical hook ups.

Friendly owner with lots of info about the area. Small play area on site and you can help feed animals in the morning.

Toilets, showers and cafe on site, lovely walks from the site and takeaways within a short drive.

The site is a little rustic but great value and would visit again.

This site has lots of potential but currently a bit lacking, perhaps in full season it would have more to offer. Grass pitches closed which seems reasonable due to the wetness of this year.

Hard standing felt a bit like a carpark but was fairly level.

There are Bison, deer, alpacas, horses, chickens, donkeys etc but you kind of have to hunt them out.

Not easy to see or get a nice pic of the Bison or alpacas as hedges high. Some good information about the bison but perhaps needs a new sign? Advertised farm shop had not much to offer, couldn't buy milk or eggs? Plus doesn't open til 10am.

Cafe wasn't very busy but seemed to have a nice breakfast ment. Bison & deer meet for sale but all frozen & seemed to be old meat. No longer breeding we think.

Toilet & showers quite disappointing. Although lovely fittings they didn't appear to have been cleaned in sometime. Lots of cobwebs. No mops available and some cubicles did not have working locks or lights.

Couldn't find any recycling, just appeared to be one medium wheelie bin for all campers, luckily there wasn't many of us.

Friendly owners, they seemed very busy with horses & family. Not sure we will return but it's a shame as really wouldn't take much time or effort to pick this site up a little to be much more enjoyable.

Pub within 10min walk and Ashby was a nice town to explore. Was a child's play area but don't think the access was open.

Stayed for one night on the way to Portsmouth. The hard standing pitch was quite dry considering the weather.

The toilet and shower were spotless and the shower very hot. A couple of nice pubs close by for a meal.

The owner was very friendly and helpful. Would like to visit in the summer to explore the area.

Obviously surroundings as expected as working farm.

Cafe very welcoming and good food reasonably priced.

Showers and toilets very clean and lovely and warm.

Really enjoyed the outlook with alpacas in the field adjacent to our pitch.

Overall really enjoyed stay, despite rotten weather.

A decent basic site on a working farm.

The grass was very wet and muddy in places, but it had been raining for several days. Two toilets and two spacious showers, all clean and in good repair. Indoor pot washing area too.

There is a pub 20 minutes walk away that is very friendly and serves good food and drink.

The cafe on site serves a great breakfast and you can also buy a selection of frozen and fresh food for a BBQ. The bison burgers are well worth a try.

There is a play are for the kids and you can also visit the alpacas and bison in the fields, as well as the animals on the farm.

Definitely a working farm. Stayed on hard standing pitch good walk to toilet and shower facilities. They are dated but clean 2 showers 2 toilets, had the whole site to ourselves but given the number of pitches it could be interesting if the site was fully occupied.

Cafe was fine good food and yes the pies are fantastic. Staff were excellent and so welcoming even when we got locked out after returning to the site late one evening to find gates closed.

Given alternative route when we called the site despite the late time of night. 16 amp ehu freeview fine flat pitches limited number of water taps. Elsan is basic and in a barn but does the job.

Do not approach via Spring Lane go further down road and you will find the main entrance. Local pub Bull and Lion was fine with good selection of food and drinks at reasonable prices.

Ashby has everything you need with supermarkets and pubs all dog friendly.

We really loved staying at the farm. It was very peaceful

I read previous reviews about the toilets and showers needing an update. This must have been done. They looked fine. Very clean and spacious showers.

Do try the home made pies. Not usually a fan of pastry but this was something else and a good quantity and quality of steak and ale. If you want Bison best to order beforehand. A very popular one.

Go visit the Bison. Quite memorable

The field was quite flat no problem there and EHU.

A very friendly owner and people in the cafe serving full breakfast among other nice treats

Altogether a enjoyable laid back stay and will return.

Little gem of a site! We stayed 2 nights. We were 2 families, 6 in total, and were allowed to pitch 2 small tents on one pitch.

The pitches are large, grassy and flat. 6 pitches in total in our field and all with access to electricity.

A small children’s play area backs on to the field with basic equipment, swings, slide, zip wire. Unfortunately the zip wire was broken and the equipment does look like it’s seen better days but our kids enjoyed themselves!

About 20 mins drive to Ashby town for supplies.

Facilities are basic, 2 toilets and 2 showers but all clean and reasonably newly fitted. Indoor pot wash room. The site was not overly busy and we never had to queue to use any facility.

You have to go across the road to get to the facilities but the road only leads to the farm so never many cars. Would need to watch younger children going across especially during the day when there could be farm traffic as it’s a working farm.

Farm shop and cafe are worth a visit. You can get breakfast and other meals in the cafe and the farm shop sells a huge selection of meats from animals raised on the farm. We bought a selection and had a delicious bbq. You can Pre order meals and bbq packs. Definitely try the home made sausage rolls!

The staff we met were all lovely, friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. We will be back!
